The Pioneer RPG Kickstarter is now Live!

I can't find any estimates for fulfillment on PIONEER? Like are we a year away?

It is helpful to think of the way things flow (not specific to Mongoose or anyone else specific):
1. Kickstarter starts, potentially give out a freebie like the "Preview" PDF
2. Kickstarter ends, creator sometimes gets a backer list to set up a questionnaire for fulfillment
3. Two to three weeks later the funding is actually released to the creator (there are typically some backers that end up not funding)
4. Digital fulfillment typically starts then, for things that are done, but even then there's likely a desire for editing and scale playtesting
5. Physical orders have significant lead time (months, including test prints) and require a lot of money up front

While some content can be worked on before that money comes in, it's usually a bad idea to lay out money or significant work before seeing some of that money, especially deposits on physical runs.

Yeah I’ve been part of many KS. I just wanted to know the forecast. KS is little more than pre-orders to well organised companies like Mongoose.

We already have pre-orders on our website :)

What Kickstarter is good at, aside from allowing us to gauge interest in weirder projects or expanding more reliable ones beyond their original concept, is punching into areas that we cannot normally reach - in a nutshell, Kickstarter is a form of marketing (which, ironically, these days needs marketing to work, but I digress...).

These are the reasons we do it :)

Think of Kickstarter as group patronage in the form of the old patronage of artists. It is paying them for the concept of a job and then carrying out that concept.

I can understand that from the point of view of trying out some weird stuff though the incredible amount of work you’ve already done … goodness. I’m glad it’s working. That’s a big investment on a hope.

The marketing angle I appreciate.

There’s only a few companies I’d pledge without thinking (particularly at the higher levels). I think Mongoose have proved their bona-fides.
