The Lordship tested

On a more serious note - proof reading should be done by someone completely unfamiliar with the text, even if you're as meticulous as Burger, you're going to miss something if you've been reading other drafts for weeks or months...your brain fills in the gaps between what you're reading and what you should be reading!

That makes a lot of sense, I lost count of how many versions of ships I looked at!
However would someone from outside catch things like Mimbari, aft AA Drakh lasers etc?

Stuff we spotted got removed from the text but returned to the finished product (like the Drakh AF laser).

Stuff that wasn't there is the first place got changed in the final text (Vorlon LC hull 6).

I recall someone at FASA telling us of the problems they had with proof readers and editors on Battletech and Renegade Legion who were not familiar with the genre.

Imitates proofreader: "I looked up 'tank' in the dictionary and it said large container for holding liquid..."

Let me re-phrase that then - someone familiar with the genre, and perhaps even ACTA, that hasn't had to read through the rules before, would make less intuitive leaps when proof reading.

That's not to say people like playtesters can't play their part as well, the more eyes that read over the text to check for typos the better I think!

and then surprisingly retconned as indeed being correct :(

Which was the story behind the code word for the "landships" being designed in WW1, the codeword then stuck! :)

I'd agree with that. Boy was I sick of the sight of Drakh fleet lists after version number 10!

but the Lordship is the sunburst looking one...not the big rock...that's Thoughtforce. They got the pictures swapped in Arm...
I thought they got them mixed up too. If you read the descriptions, it certainly doesn't match.

Thoughtforce is the one that Lorien and Ivanova meet at the beginning of "Into the Fire".
