Tell me what you want.

For some reason that phrase is always yelled in my head, from the back of a yellow taxi. The original Driver game, for those who remember.

But that aside....

What do you want?

I'm almost finished the Companion, but there's a little room for some additional material. I'm kinda smug that I'd covered some areas that folks later asked for on the boards, but there's still time to think of something I didn't.

Also, adventures.

At present we have two loose adventure threads running; Trojan Reach and Spinward Marches. Is there interest in adventures set elsewhere, such as the Solomani Rim or Deneb sector? Or on the worlds of the Great Rift? Or....

I'm also pondering some other ideas. One is a book of additional starships suitable for adventures one way or another. There are various ways to approach this, so I'm fishing for thoughts.

(Yet) another idea I had was an expanding scenario pack type thing (I'm not a marketing guy!) much like the old Pavis/Big Rubble/Borderlands for RuneQuest. A sourcebook detailing a frontier starport, expansions about the surroinding area. Advetnures in the local region.

Does interest exist, I wonder?

I would be interested in something like the old Tarsus boxed set, not necessary detailing Tarsus but a world so rich in detail that players would want to explore the world rather than just visiting the starport for a week. It could be in a specific subsector or generic enough to be placed anywhere you want in a campaign.

You could cover a whole load of NPCs, corporations, regions, etc that characters could interact with.

Just my two cents.

If you do this, please insert a few Aslan capital ships for Trojan Reach/Drinax players. "The Eikhoifiruah, an antique Aslan heavy bomber", for example, plays a big role in Pirates of Drinax, but the book (and Aslan Guard) lacks the stats.
I'm also curious to see unique Floriani ships the PCs can use, if they exist.

The solomani rim needs adventures. Deneb is kinda, well, eh. . .its a little too civilized for the adventuring spirit. A bunch of politicians whos maneuvering occasionally involves space combat. The federation border, on the other hand, is ripe for real action.

Oh, and I want someone to buy JMISBEST a magic 8 ball.

This.

Also, I'd love to see some traveller on a smaller scale, places with tons of adventure that can be used as a base or visited frequently. A starport - orbital and downport, detailed like a fantasy city supplement. A city under the sea, or in the clouds of a gas giant, that sort of thing.

You should visit Naboo or Bespin.

Seconded!

One of the "State of the Mongoose" threads mentioned something about developing the K'kree. I'd love to see that done in the context of a region of space where humaniti interacts with them. Martin, I know you've done work on the Gateway/Glimmerdrift/Ley/Crucis Margin region for a past incarnation of Traveller. I believe the time period might have been different. Any interest in redeveloping that fertile ground for MgT2 and placing it in the classic 1105 era?

I did actually do a rewrite of Gateway to Destiny for 1105. Then I found someone had published stuff in the region that contradicted GtD and that was now canon.

So it was a bit of a waste of time.

Seconded!

And thirded!! (If there is such a thing)

A lot of the other ideas sound good too.

Bummer about the Gateway stuff. I would really have liked it if we could see an 1105 version of your Gateway. I really thought "Gateway to Destiny" was some fine work. Oh, well.

So setting that aside, I'd like to see a Fifth Frontier War campaign set similar to what was done with "Pirates of Drinax." An original epic campaign that uses the war as its backdrop.

I’d really like to see something about how the Imperium is structured from the Emperor down and how their laws and stuff are put into operation. Similarly a list of Aslan clans would be great. Another idea would be a list of alien names for the various races that a GM could use to name npcs on the fly. One of the DnD books did it recently and I thought it was very useful and Naning Aslan is a nightmare!!

Wait, so aside from

Characteristics
Alternate Traveller Creation
Allies, Contacts, Rivals and Enemies
Pre-Career Options
Additional Careers
Training and Experience
Broad Skills and Specialities
Alternate Play Styles
Combat
Gravity and Related Effects
Atmosphere and Vacuum
Diseases, Toxins and Chemicals
Starvation and Thirst
Effects of Temperature
Terrain, Conditions and Movement
Slower Than Light
The Jump Drive
Travelling in Normal Space
Starports and Spaceports
Mine Warfare
Gas Giant Operations
Missiles and Torpedoes
Starship Automation
Starship Weaponry

There’s room for more? Wow :)

Perhaps a section about sensors and sensor operations? What does limited info from radar actually mean? What can the sensor operator do during a round, except “perform sensor sweep”? Stuff like that.

Regarding the book of adventuring starships, are you planning on creating new ships, or looking in detail at why and how some of the existing ones are perfectly suited for various forms of adventure?

Either way, I’d personally love it if such a book provided an in-depth look at the ships included, not just stat block and deck plans. Perhaps not 20 pages per ship, but at least the level of detail that for example the Armstrong class got in the Great Rift.

Hopefully the book will feature chapters devoted to different kinds of adventuring, such as trading, exploration, mercenaries and so on. Each chapter could start with an overview of what the type of adventure means and how to run a campaign/adventure with that particular setting in mind.

The rest of each chapter would be perfect to fill with a couple of examples of ships fitting the adventure type, preferably including various sizes. For example, a merc campaign could use something as simple as a type A free trader with some modifications. A step up could mean a patrol corvette, and for even larger outfits there’s the mercenary cruiser.

The scout/explorer chapter could include ships like type S, Donosev and Armstrong classes.

Of course, the scale doesn’t stop at 1,000 dton, some even larger examples would be fun :)

It's a Traveller companion rather than a Third Imperium companion, yes?

More alternative technologies and TL paradigms.

If I want more cyberpunk twidle this dial

if I want more space fantasy twidle this dial

if I want time travel, mirror universes etc

if I want transhumanism, diamond hard scifi, near future technothriller noir whatever here is how th Mongoose traveller rules set can be easily hacked to run this type of setting.

What I do not want is anything that conflicts with T5 or Agent of the Imperium claiming to be how things work in the Third Imperium.

How sensors work, how you use the to counter opponents sweeps and how the can affect transponders being recognised. Hell, just some firm transponder info would be great as it seems you can change them (maybe) but it difficult, but you can turn them off but it looks suspicious?!?

How about some stuff along the Vargr border? There are quite a few worlds in the Marches that have significant Vargr populations and Gvurrdon has been detailed (ish). Adventures that woudl drag Imperials into the chaos of the Extents might be fun...

Out beyond the Solomani Rim would be great.

It looks like someone started working on the Amderstun Sector, and then just stopped. There is a lot of great potential there.

I would be interested to see some scenarios and background not set in the 12th century Spinward region.
T4 was really flawed, but the premise was good and the era interesting (more so than New Era in my opinion).
I don't know what the boundaries for doing anything in the T5 Galaxiad era would be, but I'd be interested in what follows the collapse of the Fourth Imperium and the successor states to the Regency.
And maybe something more focused on exploration and colonization as a type of campaign, like the old World Builders and Pocket Empires books.
And what about the Tinath setting from the starter kit? I don't know if the map with only one subsector was meant to make the rest of the Sector and the region around it a reserve, but the background, even the time frame is kind of loosely set up. It could very easily become a "Battlestar Galactic" campaign setting.
And alien creation rules or guidelines.
More animals and natural encounters.
And a Poni.
