"Tagging" your tanks

all tankers name there tanks by writeing names along the barrell. names i recall were " i pitty the foo!" death and destruction" on bradelys in my platoon were " bloney pony" stincon licoln " " born to kill" i saw a 1st armour div humvee with a boba fett helmet painted on it too!

We named my track in Korea "DOA", which we painted down the barrel, since what ever got hit when we fired it was Dead On Arrival.

She never let me down, and I kept her mechanically sound for the entire 18 months of my deployment there.

Just wait until some folks starts to "modify" the tanks so that the profile is even smaller...Say let's move machine gun to the FRONT of the tank...Or let's cut down barrel length to half etc...

Sooner or later somebody will do it.

Yes, but then those players may get lonely when they don't have anyone to play with :wink:. At least if I drill a hole for a whip antenna and don't glue it in I'm not minimising the original model. Hey, I just thought of a really funny thing regarding what we're talking about and "real life". In reading about the Shadow RST-V, they made it so that it can be air-shipped more compactly by remotely pulling in its tires and lowering its profile into a more compact size. Do you think those designers got any ideas from Mongoose Publishing's rules on Battlefield Evolution's Cover and Obscurement? :lol: :lol: :lol:

As an aside, for about a year, I was the driver and signatory (as in, my John Hancock was on the "you break it, you buy it" paperwork from Uncle Sam) for hull number 666. He was The Dragon.

THanks for the Tagging article. I stole the "Albert Taco" idea and converted it to single days haunt, "Mr. Taco". Hope the tank has better luck on the battlefield than the original Mr Taco had with the Health Department .

Most unit commanders that allow vehicle tagging, require that the first letter match the Company letter designation, so all of Alpha Company's vehicles will have a name starting with 'A', while all of Delta Company's vehicles will start with 'D'. Makes it easier for units to know at a glance who they've pulled up next to.

So when you look to your right and see "Angel of Death" on the gun tube, and they're supposed to be a mile or more to the left...somebody is NOT in the right place.
