Sutible Min proxie for the Gaim.

Mongoose
As there is no longer any miniatures being made for A Call to Arms and I never really liked the Gaim miniatures produced by Mongoose, while they had some interesting designs their scale was just to dang wrong, I'm looking for a suitable proxie for Gaim ships.

I have looked through all the different Full Thrust, and Brigade miniatures and non seem to catch my eye and scream Gaim. They obviously are not going to be organic, but I'm looking for something that is Asymmetrical like the Mongoose ships but with a greater degree of scale.

Thanks for any help

Sting.

Those are great ships, though i'm already using the Cylon ships as well the Cylon's a race of cyborgs created during the last great war to combat the shadows but in turn destroyed their creators.

Thanks though.

Maybe when he gets his human ships out for WHI they might work the few previews i remember were asymmetrical

Try the Tyranid ships from battlefleet gothic:

While the Tyranid ships are cool, I don't want the Gaim to have Organic technology, plus I'm using them as a servitor race of the Shadow's called the Thar'ken.

They are covered in one of my previous post, titled Shadow Allies Thra'ken i believe.

Thanks though.

The Tyranid battleship looks like Da Boss' Vorlon primordial dreadnought.. Maybe we'll see some primordial fighters and frigates in his next expansion..:D

For I think I'd look for ships that resemble hives.. The Yenpalo ships from Brigade models would have been my choice.. Just my preference of course ;)

AdrianH some nice ships there in areotech but noting i see as viable. as for the Yenpalo they are just way to bland for my taste. I guess i will need to look though my miniature archives and see if I can find something that fits.

@ Adrian: Don't know about Gaim, but I think I may want some of them to represent raiders.. Wagon wheel frigate for a strike carrier, Potemkin troop cruiser and/or Nightlord battleship for battlewagons. I figure they can't have a large uniform fleet.. ;)

And the Avalon cruiser looks rather Narnish don't you think?
I can't think of a suitable ship to replace, though. Not sure about the size. :?

@sting: well, that they are.. It will take a lot of drilling and green stuff to make them work ;)

Might want to check these out too, they look about the right scale and are nicely designed. Not too human looking but not organic or derivative either.

I've edited my last post to link to the miniatures page of Starship Combat News which should list pretty much all the ranges out there.

Matt if by highly popular line of ships means the gaim ships I'm not impressed with the gaim ships and that is why I'm looking for a suitable proxi. their scale is atrocious and while their designs are good scale is highly important to me and they just don't fit into my game. thanks though.

Umm, not sure how you are gauging scale on them. . .

Awesome! I've just been getting back into playing the game and this is great news, I never bought enough in the first place!

Like I said my bigest problem with the Gaim mins are their scale I use most of my fleets with Full Thrust ships and like to have ships ranging in size from small escort sized ships up to the big honking dreadnought.

All the other B5 fleets for the most part do this, but the Gaim only have two ships smaller then a Hypernion Heavy Cruiser minature. the Shuuka light cruiser and the Stak scouts, I need a larger range of different scaled ships.

Now if their were more designs added to fill these gaps Corvette, Frigate, and Destroyers sized ships to fill these gaps maybe the Gaim would be more usable for me. Now I could always try scratch building them if I had to.
