Status of Necromantic Arts?

It's not on the Mongoose site under Legend books, it's not on rpgnow.com under Mongoose's stuff or under Design Mechanism's "old" Runequest books, and I don't see it as an upcoming title on the release schedule.

So what is the status of this book? Getting updated to Legend? Out of Print forever?

I suspect that Mongoose will eventually rework this book as part of their Arcania of Legend line. Hopefully they will fix some of the errors in the book at that time. There's some good material in there, but also some problematic stuff.

What do you see as "problematic" in Necromantic Arts?

Mostly the usual "cut & paste" stuff that Mongoose specializes in. Necromantic Arts was written for RuneQuest I and was not updated for RuneQuest II. Some location maps were left out, if I recall.

All maps that were needed to use the book as more than a "system" book were left out.

Some of the Gloranthan material was also contradictory to other information on the same subjects in other books that Mongoose published.

It was a "book that slipped".
