On June 15th, we are throwing open our doors for the premier A Call to Arms: Star Fleet tournament - Star Fleet's Finest!

This is where the elite admirals get together and demonstrate their tactical prowess (or not, as the case may be), and is always an easy, fun event with plenty of prizes, good games, and great company!

The tournament pack can be downloaded freely and tickets are available here;

If you use the coupon code FLEET when purchasing your ticket, you will not be charged any postage!

I'll order my ticket then :)

One question - why the 150 point ship cost limit? Is it to restrict the number of ships a fleet can take?

The minimum ship cost speeds play up, and stops people doing things like taking wolfpacks of Gorn Battle Destroyers or Klingon E4s (I've only got five, I'm not that bad).

It'll be an interesting exercise in fleet design.

Orions need a little more balancing before being unleashed on tournaments I think.

What I'm thinking is whether there is a way to make things even more interesting. The E4 flying circus is out, so hmm.

Also what fleet to go with. Fed, Gorn or Klingon?

On the one hand, it will restrict the number of ships and speed up play. However, we also like to throw in a curved ball in each tournament, just a little one to disrupt tried and tested tactics :)

Whilst I think the limit onsmaalwr ships is nice, I do think 150pts may be a bit of a high mark, as a fair number of lighter cruisers are not usable then. This may give me a good excuse to use my mars or star tiger :p.

With my Federation, I've been struggling to work out a decent fleet. I think I'm set on a roster with six ships in the 1250 points.

Same, the only way to have more then six ships is to spam kearsages, and as nice as they are that is a bit boring, at the moment I'm thinking of taking a battleship or dreadnought as I am likely to be out numbered anyway.
EDIT: Also, with the three lists and one fleet roster, what exactly is that? If the fleets have to use the same ships won't they be the same?

Just a quick note, restrictions like this are designed to make you think about fleet selection. We were going to make the limit 180 points, but felt it hurt too many fleets.

One question about the rulepack if I may?

It states that we need to bring three separate fleets. Later, it says that the fleet may be no more than 1,250 points. Has something been left over from a previous version of a tournament rules? We only need a single 1,250 size or less fleet, yes?

Cool - thanks for the clarification. I could actually easily make 3 x 1250 separate fleets as it happens  Someone got a bit over-excited when he was buying his toys...

Must admit I have two lists I'm thinking of taking, though they are both 6 ships, and the main difference is the relative value of better turning compared to fast ships.
Part of me would be interested to see a tholian/orion fleet, just of the largest ships of those fleets, or perhaps give them an exemption from the restriction as they don't have anything else?

Can I just confirm that escorts are not allowed?
(I'm actually considering Gorn this time around, so one of the Escorts would actually be expensive enough to bring along ;))

Two weeks to go for Star Fleet's Finest 2013 and we about half the players we need have signed up - not panicking, as people tend to sign up with just one week to go! However, just to remind you all, this tournament is in two weeks, and is a great chance to get your ships fighting while you mingle with like-minded Admirals!

I'm umming and ahhing as I may be very very broke this month. I do however have a fully painted fleet to use.
