Star Fleet Rulebook PDF

We are basically all good to go, just need to do some donkey work - first the reference cards, then the pocket book for the Kzinti and Gorn fleet sets, and finally the core book as a PDF.

Likely a week or so, give or take.

Ya, reference cards. Two questions for you Matt:

1) How large are the reference cards? If they are a similar size as the Pocket rulebooks I'm going to do a happy dance 8)

2) Since you are doing the PDF version, will you also be updating the errata to have reprinted ship stats for everything that has changed? I like my hardcover book, I just don't see printing off the entire PDF when I can just have a few extra pages of errata under the cover - but it would be nice to have all the ships updated in the nicer format.

That's all. Really looking forward to the colour erasable reference cards.

Well, we will actually have two options for you. The actual cards are double-sided, and the size of playing cards.

However, we will also be be increasing their size and having them as a PDF download. Obviously not 'wipeable' (unless you do your own lamination), but you can print out as many as you want.

If it is just a case of a single stat or trait being added or taken away, we are unlikely to do a whole set of ship stats. However, if something more fundamental has changed (or several little things), then we do.

Matt, thanks for the replies.

Sounds like the best of both worlds. The playing card size will definitely help to minimize the amount of space the ship references cards take on the playing surface - a good thing.

By providing the PDF I can print them off at a slightly larger size that fits well (and doesn't fall out of) the pocket rule book. This is a perfect little set to bring with me on my daily train commute. A commute in which I plot against my enemies by studying both my ships and theirs

I understand there probably isn't a great need to redo all the ships in the errata, especially if they just have one or two numbers that need to be adjusted, but I thought since you are already doing that for the updated PDF it would be a fairly simple cut and paste? Anyway, its not something I can't just do myself.

Thanks,

The rulebook, not for a while (though we will likely make a free version available, completely updated, to those who have the hardcover - give us a little bit to work through a few things first).

The Reference Sheets, these will be out in June certainly, hopefully within a week or two - they are all laid out, just undergoing a few tweaks and approval.

So when is the updated book that was going to be ready two months ago coming out?

Unfortunately I've lost most interest in the game due to its many "bugs". I was looking forwards to an update, but ...... it's been too long coming.

If the rulebook had come out in PDF I would have started playing it already. However, since it's not I have lost interest and am picking up Dystopian Wars and soon to be Dropship Commander. Mongoose lost me on this one.

That is the plan, yes.

Personally I think that sets a dangerous precedent for differences between book and pdf other than error fixes.

LBH

I'd assume he's refering to the free PDF anyone who bought the book will be able to get, at some point.
