Sources for 28mm/1/65 scale Russian vehicles?

Ben2

Mongoose
Does anyone know where to get any? Pretty self explanatory question. Resin, metal or die cast is fine.

and i can the answer is

NO :(

that said 1:72 scale is a good stand in as some are oversized ;) another alternative is to use mongoose tanks with 1:72 russian turrets to represnt future developments or hybrids. such things exist but in very limited numbers.

there is like a 8% diferance between the 2 but it can push through, just.

if i do find some il let you know

they may exist though as i did find one of these

You can get model kits and diecasts of the T-34/85 which can still be found in the third world and other odd corners so it might conceivably be used by the Arabic faction.
For more modern vehicles there are Chinese made model kits sold by Zhengdefu and Kitech (same kits in either case) that suffer from the drawback of using a common chassis which affects the size and wheel layout but otherwise they are cheap and surprisingly nice kits. The Tanks include the T-80 and T-90 while they do two 8-wheelled vehicles, one a missile launcher. If nothing else a good base for a brewed up tank for terrain but cheap enough for some messing around with as well.

Had a look and Kitech have the T-90 (which may still be the mainline Russian MBT around 2015 as the company that make the Black Eagle went bankrupt in 2002 and the T-95 is not yet in production, but does look to be a whole evolutionary step ahead of the 90s MBTs (M1A2, Challenger II, Merkava IV) that other nations have. The American FMBT is likely to have many of the same features, like radar, ATGM etc. But the necessity of only having two crew is interesting.

The T-95, having said that, may be in production by the end of the year and would hence make the perfect starter tank for the Russians. However the US army may then be deploying the FMBT, and the Russian tanks have always been over hyped compared to the US ones.

On model kits, the Kitech are £5.00 a piece, a powerful argument compared to sloppy jalopy at £15-18.
Does 1/48 look really wierd next to the BF:Evo tanks? The T-90 is pretty big however. And bear in mind while I have based my Russians on washers so they are the same height as BF:Evo troops, they are a bit chunkier, not being anatomically correct.

Those Sloppy Jalopy cold war soviets made me have a sudden desire to pull out all my old Twilight 2000 stuff again....

Hmmm... Twilight 2017.....

Force of arms do 1/56th stuff - they have a T55 and Hum-Vee's http://www.forceofarms.co.uk/

Impring have a nice, but pricey, T-80 kit in 1/50th http://www.imprintmodels.co.uk/about.aspx

S&S did some nice moderns in 1/60th, but I believe they are not taking orders at the moment (as it says on the web page): http://www.sandsmodels.com

Crikey!

I've been looking for that page for months now!!
I saw their HMMWV's a while back online while perusing minis stuff at work... had to go out on a call, and never could find it again.

Hopefully this guy gets well really soon.

GJD beat me to it, Imprint is good.

S&S do some BTRs. but because of illness no orders are being taken for awhile:

So 1/72 compares ok?

Right, because I know you can get loads of Russian 1/72 vehicles, it just leaves me wondering where to get 28mm infantry.
Any ideas for 28mm infantry? I've got a lot of the MVD from The Assault group, and they're quite nice.

Any idea as to the organisation of Russian squads? Is it a squad of 8 with 2 fire teams of four? AK-74s and PKMs are still in use, but are they using the AT-14 Kornet or the RPG-29?
And how are they armed, 1 PKM, 1 AT weapon?

Actually, for these figures I think you want more of the 25mm scale stuff.

If you're going with 28mm apparently its 1/48th scale vehicles....

Ah-yup, and especially with TAG and such, as they're "heroic" scale and, with bases and such, come to 33-35mm. Here's a couple of pics of my TAG's (corrected with Eureka SWAT heads and some sculpted accessories) with a 1/48 HMMWV:

I have some 1/48 vehicles like this that I found at Wal-Mart, 2 for about $10 USD... the packages I've seen have either a HMMWV and an AH-6 Little Bird, or a Humvee as you've shown and one with a flatbed.
They look very nice and fit in very well in scale with the PLA infantry I have.

That's where these are from too, bought them off ebay - they're WalMart exclusive right now but, according to the manufacturer, should be coming to online stores later this year. I must have asked pretty much every person I know in the US to keep an eye out for these for me - I want a bunch more :D

They are nice little kits and come apart very easily with a bit of thought and a screwdriver. I took the TOWs off and am currently awaiting a few metal gunners and fifty-cals to finish them up (the turret hatches still open, but I glued all the other moving bits in place). I also took out the clear plastic windows and replaced them with cardstock so I wouldn't have to fuss with interior details and additional crew.
