Some Gorn questions

I was wondering why the Gorn Destroyer and the Gorn Battle Destroyer have the same number of hull/damage points. Wouldn't the extra bubble on the BDD add a couple extra hull points?
That certainly seems to be the pattern with the Light Cruiser and the Battlecruiser, with the latter having more hull/damage points.

Also a question about the plasma carronade. The rule book states it can be fired every turn. Does the "Reload Weapons" command also need to be made every turn as well to keep using it? (I'm assuming it does)

I just checked the Federation Commander ship cards, which the hull/shield scores are based upon, and both the DD and BDD have 8 hull boxes.

One of hte vagueries of hte conversion system.

I'd have based ACTASF damage on total boxes, but Matthew based it on hull boxes only.
This results in the DD / BDD having the same damage.

Just backing Scoutdad up. Yes the Gorn DD to BDD is the odd duck of the Gorn upgrades. The Rear Bubble or shell actually adds Systems and Weapons but does not add additional crew space. Since Ship Systems and Weapons use a different damage tracking system than Ships Hulls do it looks odd. Just one of those things.

The Caronade fires every turn. It only needs to be reloaded to fire as a Plasma F.

So fighting a battle against the Roms. You close and fire Carronade against a cloaked scout. Next turn it stays cloaked so you can again fire a carronade. The turn after that the Roms are decloaking, you can fire the carronade but if you want to fire the Plasma F you need to reload and then have it available to fire the turn after that.

My understanding is that if you have a charged F and fire it as a carronade instead you have lost the F and must use a reload before it can be fired as anything other than a carronade.

With regard to the rear bubble of the BDD. Due to budget cuts the aft bubble is lacking in structure and bracing. The Gorn Assembly was as usual being tight, erm frugal, with funds. However the resulting open areas do allow for significant tribble breeding rooms making the BDDs some of the best ships in the fleet to serve on. Senior officers in fleets are often invited aboard one of the BDDs by the BDD captain for "all you can eat" tribble roasts.

Thanks for all the comments everyone.

It all makes so much more sense now. One would think this should improve ship morale (i.e. crew quality) with everyone being in such high spirits...

Yeah, that grain shipment that got eaten by tribbles was redirected to the Gorns. They were happier with the tribbles than the grain.

A Gorn question about the medium cruiser: When using the Plasma-R variant of the ship, does the arc of the plasma remain forward-half? There is no statement about arcs in the variant description, so I would assume the Plasma-R would have the same arc as the two Plasma-S's because it's using the same launcher.
(One of the Romulan cruisers has a variant where the Plasma-R becomes forward arc in the conversion, but these are Gorn ships and I don't want to assume they are designed the same as Romulans.)

The Strike Cruiser should have a "Fixed" Fore Arc Type R Torpedo. Plasma Rs are just too big to Mount in a swivel mount. IIRC the PDF cards had this fixed.
