So.... Slaine.

I really dig it! :D My first exposure to the world of Slaine came when I picked up the Runequest book. I knew that a D20 version was previously available, but I was never able to choke down my dislike of that particular ruleset enough to buy it so, when a MRQ version appeared, I quickly bought it.

Then I saw that it was based on a comic series of which I was unaware, so I ordered the first compilation, Warrior's Dawn, and really dug that too. Essentially, I am a new fan, and a strong one. However, I do have a few questions.....

1) Is there going to be any future support for the game? I've seen many posts on these boards about a campaign book (or so I gather) called the Baleosin (sp?) Chronicles, but that's about it.

2) Being from Canada, the only comic easily available is Warrior's Dawn, as it was released by DC comics in North America some years back. How should a poor canuck go about getting some other Slaine material? I'd love to read it in order if at all possible, but I'd settle for anything.... Can I order direct, or am I condemned to search endlessly on e-bay and amazon?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome on the forum.

I don't know much of Slaine comics, but I think the Horned God saga is being or has been reprinted. There are also 2 novels.

As far comics are concerned, you should refer to 2000 AD website:
http://www.2000adonline.com/books/slaine_time_killer.php

There is some info there:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sl%C3%A1ine_(comics)

For your information, I highly suggest that you purchase the D20 campaign of the Horned God (in 4 books) under D20 rules but which can easily converted in RuneQuest rules.

Hope that helps

Holy crap. I had no idea there was such a huge library of stuff..... I figured the Slaine series was like the stories in Heavy Metal; serials, sure, but few and far between. I stand corrected.

Hello There....

I was thinking that now perhaps the Paladium Rifts rules might be perfect for Slaine and Judge Dredd as well.

Thats just my own thinking.

It seems to be slowing down. Some people have appeared to lose interest in it and I'll be surprised if it's still got a place on the forum here this time next year.

Really I have or rather I had the same problem until I tried Ebay. It's better than Amazon.com which is only selling the current Slaine books.

You can get many of the old, foriegn, more obscure ones if you look here.....

http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38.l1313&_nkw=slaine&_sacat=See-All-Categories

Unless your a idiot or don't like using Pay Pal.

This shouldn't be too much of problem for you.

I've noticed that 'Slaine the Horned God' is a very common on that page.
At the moment there is also a old, but well preserved copy of 'Slaine the King' and more recent equally mint copy of 'Slaine: Warrior beyond Time'

Amazon.com is selling the most recent Slaine publications at the moment if you look here on Tharg's online Bookstore.

http://www.2000adonline.com/books/slaine-the-horned-god.php

or

2000AD Online's Book section.

http://www.ekmpowershop2.com/ekmps/shops/2000ad/graphic-novels-nall21curpage-3-21-c.asp

That last one is about as direct as you could get with out visiting the 2000AD offices.

I figured the Slaine series was like the stories in Heavy Metal.

The Horned God was reprinted in January 1991 edition of 'Heavy Metal' magazine.

Not the full story of that saga, though.

You would be best ordering the latest 'Slaine the Horned God' GN from 2000AD online shop or Amazon.com linked above. As it's latest reprinting has that entire saga all in one volume.
