So in Glorantha, you are a What?

I'm a Hsunchen man myself; particularly the Rathoreli and the Hsa.

When Lairs of Glorantha eventually comes out, my Hsunchen love is reflected a bit in one of the stories. :)

See now that's something of a different choice there. Definitely a lot of potential there for adventure and Role Play opportunities, While still having one foot in the Human Field and another in the "animal" field.

Combined with the depth and variety available in a Glorantha campaign, I think that's a nice avenue there to take a good hard look at.

Hi,

Troll pirates heading out of Koromondal are great characters, pseudo-aztec-chinese monster worshippers of Kogag the Boatman lurking in the misty seas of Kahar and preying on the Kralori and Vithelans. Its a shame you have to wait until the fall of the God Learners to get the really cool Jrustelan pirates. The Unspoken Word had stuff on these guys in Uz: The Trolls of Glorantha and so did one of the recent Tradetalks and Men of the Sea by Issaries.

Back in '93 we started a troll campaign using the rules for making troll characters from trollpak. The GM had us roll up the races of the trolls randomly. The race with the highest percentage chance was of course trollkin and the lowest was mistress race. I couldn't believe they had it on there but they did and when I rolled I rolled a one so I got a mistress race troll (Uzuz!).

There were a lot of plusses but the big minus was that because they were so rare and so special that any new uzuz would basically be kept under lock and key.

Hmmm. It does appear that the Uz, have broken into the lead. Troll Pirates though? Worth some thought. Though I am sure they would fall as easy prey to the Durulz Armada. :D

Hi,

Troll Pirates have the edge in the form of Sea Trolls aiding them beneath the water to gobble up any opportunitistic Keets or Durulz that may swim by. Trust me we played Gloranthan Pirates for about six years and the Keet in our party was always getting his tail nibbled by Sea Trolls, although he did once punch the lights out on a plesiosaur, which instantly began to follow him around for the rest of the campaign, fitting exactly with the cameo in Elder Secrets.

Did I mention Oorbrepus the Broo, one of a chaotic band we created for one day and sent to visit the Rainbow Mounds, not the region is infested with Newt-Broo!

I find the idea, of Newt Broo, to be, Horrifying. All I can think of, is the movie Humanoids of the Deep. My next game though, I am so doing, Bootakeet the Mighty, Keet hunter of Uz.

Wasn't there a P.E.T.E. T-Shirt? People for the Eating of Tasty Elves?

Unfortunately not. There was one game, which is sort of a Post Apocalyptic Fantasy game where elves are the ones responsible for the state of the surviving world, that had a shirt that said, "Have you spit on an elf today?"

I can certainly see, a Mongoose Official RQ T-Shirt, with an Uz, trying to make up his mind between Durulz La'orange, or Elf-Ka-Bob.......

Generally an Ogre who follows the Red Moon. Lunar Magic was always a fun cross between Spirit Magic and Sorcery. And it's fun to play the ex-villain who can be nice if he wants to be, or nasty if that's needed. And of course Red Moon folks are iconoclasts, which is fun too!

Hmmm. I have to say that's an interesting take there, combining the Ogre and the Red Moon issues. Nice touch.

In the RQ supplement Runemasters there was an ogre Seven Mothers Rune Lord with a chaos feature of Jump up to 8 metres.

Always liked him as a hunter of enemies of the Empire...enigmatic character, I thought...

He inspired many of my characters. My Ogres are tired of the 5th rate nillism of Ogre life and want the wider world of both idealism and opportunity the LUNAR EMPIRE offered.

My question now to all the Ogre players out there. What is it about the Ogre's in general, that attracts you to the ogre, as a playable race?

Surely it can't be that it's like a human only you get a great big STR roll?

A) Your basically human, but not human.

B) Improved Str, Pow, and App.

C) A dramatic secret that must be kept!

D) Playing a monster that doesn't fit the sterotype. (Runequest Ogres being drawn from Cronish/Breton Ogres rather than being smallist giants with no brains)

So how often does that, prefer to eat other sentients issue come into play for all the ogre players out there.

Bear in mind, I'm not judging, I play Ducks or Humans really. I tend to lean towards Human or Less as opposed to Human or More. I can see how all that extra STR would attract folks though.

Still, how playable of a campaign is it really when the group, is basically looking at everything else as something to eat?

Us Trolls look at virtualy everything else as something to eat. Only we dont hide it.

Most adventurers look on other beings as potentialy something to kill and rob. Having a snack afterwards is not a huge deal. It is the secret part that is tough.

Trolls are if anything, Honest about their nature. The sheer Deviousness of an Ogre though, that's something interesting.
