So how well is MRQ2 selling anyway?

I just visited the Living Glorantha page (thanks Master of Reality) and there is an interesting easy-to-read gazette of Glorantha, as well as the 3 adventures mentioned and some other useful stuff to download - all for FREE!

This is the kind of thing IMO that should be put together as a kind of Glorantha meet&greet for newbies to MRQ and Glorantha. After having just the briefest skim (I'm at work and my boss kinda expects to me to do stuff for him now and then. Damn, that mans got a hide!) it left me wanting to read more. This is the sort of thing we've been talking about. A simple 11 page introduction to the setting, a couple of scenarios and some pre-generated characters. More than enough to get the ball rolling.

More of this material please! But for all settings - including AoT (sorry Simalcrum, I forgot about your recent release in my previous post).

... Peter Walton's initiation scenario...

Hey, it's Ken Walton and Peter Cakebread, we haven't become a single uber-entity like Elric and Hawkmoon! In fact, I wrote that scenario before I'd even met Peter. :D

B) It's hard to identify with the inhabitants of Glorantha, who are these people? There's a LOT of history and philosophy, but I don't get a sense of life actually going on. Not that I want to play an average-joe character, but it reads like a history book more than a setting. If I'm going to be a PC, who am I? What do I do?

Once upon a time, there used to be a "What my father told me section" and "What the priest(ess) told me" section for each culture and cult in Glorantha. Sadly, this is no longer the case.

But look... there is HeroQuest voices now, a free PDF doing the same for Third Age Glorantha (d/l site courtesy of Nick Brooke). It answers your question, I hope.

So, who's Ken Cakebread, then? :D

Prepare to be assimilated.

Perhaps the clockwork is becoming sentient?

I went MRQII shopping last night at my FLGS, and I have to admit a bit of frustration.

I'm running a homebrew sword and sorcery setting and what I'm really looking for are more toolkits, not more Glorantha setting information. I wound up picking up the Elric Cults book, because it seemed to have the highest percentage of easily adaptable mechanics, but what I really wanted was a new generic book ala Vikings or Empires.

I know Blood Magic is possibly on the horizon, but are there any plans for any other generic books?

GGroy over at the RPG Site posted this link to Alliance Game Distributors that shows a ton of RQII stuff as discontinued (even fairly new stuff like Spellcom). Should we be worried?

http://www.alliance-games.com/publicaccess/results.asp?SearchArg=RuneQuest+RPG&list=By_Game_System

He also pointed out that out of 20 RQII products, 12 were listed as Discontinued.
