Size/scale of air assets?

Jellicoe

Mongoose
Just a thought and question at the same time, how are the sizes and scales of the air assets going to work out? Will they be the same scale as the tanks, infantry etc.. in which case they are going to be rather larger for a 6x4 setup. A 1/72 scale Cobra is already about 20cm long, so something in 28mm/ 1/64 is going to be about an 1/8 larger again. JSFs, Typhoon's, Raptor's etc.. are larger themselves, pretty much covering the area of 3-4 tanks, that's quite a lot.

personally id go with the 1/48, its a little out of ascale and looks to big, but IMO the 1:72 looks way to small

1/48 is not to bad. Here are some Brits on a "lead lease" program with the US ARMY before a mission with a Little Bird.

incidentally i found some 1/55 and 1/60th scale choppers (these will be almost exact 28mm scale :D

The Super Cobra and Future Lynx will be in scale with the rest of the range. No decision made yet on the jets.

hey dorb nice copter but for a little bird thats way to big, have you ever been next to one ?

that said i have a 1/64 scale little bird il try get a pic done after work today.

Why a cobra for the USMC anyway? Its one of the oldest attack choppers we have, why not an apache or comanche?

Apache - $$$ and i think the USMC likes the smaller size of the Cobra for transporting (key word = think )

Commanche - canceled a few years back

anyway the Cobra today is a different bird to what it used to be, twin engine, 4 blades and i think it now has a glass cockpit (no to sure about the last one)

ive found evan 1:72 scale air craft are a little to big, maybe look at 1:100 scale, sounds crazy i know but makes sence when you think about it.

I'm gonna agree on this one, i have a 1/72 Tomcat here and it's 10½" long!!
anything that size mounted on a stick is an tip-overaccident waiting to happen..
it also looks wrong..

Yup - modern jet fighters are HUGE. The venerable F-14 Tomcat, although it is one of the biggest fighters around, is a whopping 18.6 meters long

They look so tiny when they're up in the air!

also at 1:72/1:65 scale were lookn at £30+ modle !!!! every body would look else where for their versions

Not when you factor in the unit card and the very funky flying stand. We don't expect to sell them in huge numbers, but they are going to be something you'll want for your army. . .

Hmmm... not to be a party pooper or anything Matt, but as it stands the price for BF Evo minis is already on just about the very upper edge of what Im willing to spend on minis and I know ALOT of people who simply wont get into the game due to the price of the minis. Expecting people to pay even more just because something has a card and a nice base is slightly wishful thinking....

If the model is truly awsome then it MIGHT be worth 30 quid but if these prices keep going the way they're heading it's getting dangerously close to the territory a certain other large games company who I wont mention (but they make games. In a workshop...) tread in terms of pricing and alot of people specifically prefer other miniaure games over them due to the price.....

Speaking for myself, I love BF Evo, both rules and minis and have bought a few so far. If they had been SLIGHTLY cheapear even to the tune of 3 or 4 quid a box I would have bought LOADS more (I will I dont doubt buy more in time anyway but as it stands I'm fairly certain the high price point is the single biggest off putting factor for many many people).

As a specific example, I know at least 3 or 4 people at my local club alone who would probaly jump on the game like a shot and like the minis, theyre just not prepared to pay that much for them!

Here, here!

I have a 1/72nd Tornado, phantom and Tomcat from an old Del Parado partwork (World Jets or something) that gave away a free model with every issue. They are about as big as I would want to go with jets.

That Blackhawk is a bargain, though....

Evil, I agree my Little birds are on the big side and the Mongoose Tanks are little on the skinny side, but what the hey its a game. (intresting note - I can get 5 little birds that are metal and prepainted for the price of one tank...thats about the real size of it!)
