I'm plugging Cold Calling from JTAS 14 for sure, its an exploration/discovery adventure about people who got stranded on a ice planet that discovered a lost civilisation that stored itself in virtual reality, it fits the themes perfectly and I'm previously making appear the After Party, the crashed ship, as a competitor in the Anililik Run who will lose everything and have to sell the ship to the people who have it in Cold Callings.I'm probably going to start running this campaign in the next month or two and I'm thinking about gathering up some potential side quest material that can be dropped in along the way. I'm kicking around a couple of ideas of my own, but I'm curious if anyone who's familiar with JTAS can recommend anything from any of those that would slot in easily to this campaign - I've skimmed the tables of contents but they're not very helpful in that regard. Or maybe short adventures/encounters from DTRPG or other sources that work well in a Core Worlds setting?
Definitively plugging the Core Adventure 3 Errant Lightning too, its based on Adan, one if the route go super close. The adventure describe an interesting planet. The only problem being its starport D, so it have to be a secret mission and not a tourist destination.
The ship in the lake from JTAS 1 would be easy to place somewhere, its an expedition in a declining tourist destination due to a rebellion. I'd adapt it with brigning a couple passengers along.
Button, Button, from JTAS 11 is easy to plug somewhere if one of your players have any background with the agent career or the scout service or adapt and make the quest come from one of the passengers.
From JTAS 11 too, Zeno Paradise is a perfect little adventure where the Travellers have to fetch things for a concert to happen that was on their itinerary and that their passengers would be very sad to miss.
I used the JTAS a lot to flesh out the various passengers, especially the encounters section. Here are my notes:
Simone Garibaldi JTAS 1
Digraced academics who translated the lost work of a famous poet. People think its fake. She wants the travellers to sneak in the library where she found it and steal them without causing a bloodbath in the barbarian society that established itself in the ruins of the old colony of a tech level 1-2 non mainworld.
Glorinna Firella JTAS2
Princess and heir to a planetary gouv near the imperium, her dad has been overtrown by rebels and his own General. She seeks political allies during the cruise and General Ladro will try to have her killed
Commodore Laruskaa Korkoran Jtas3
Scam artist actually named Johnny McRae, master of changing identities, he wants to live larvishly and will need the travellers help getting out of sticky situations he caused once or twice
Dev Landrel Jtas 6
Xenoarcheologist "hipster" about the ancients, have no respect for decency. Steals, smuggle and destroy cultural and historic treasures to satisfy his own curiosity/cause.
Milo Van Ulrik JTAS 12
Noble and racer, had a ship custom made along the route ( maybe at Milos? In a uneventfull spur?)and want the travellers to test it out with him and wanna test a maneuver in the depth of a gas giant to refuel in minutes instead of hours. Might browse shipyards along the route and ask for parts to be put in cargo.
Lady Nazhda haut Gerbiehl-Vaalashdi JTAS 16
Her and her three robots. She wants to travel more incognito than with her own ship to catch a mark or do one or more secret agent themed mission
Dr. Ernest Mollk JTAS 17
He is faking a buisness trip but in fact want to dissapear somewhere along the route and needs help for that.
Baroness Bedaan haut-Wyaulia-Ktosi, Imperial Trade Representative Enrii's Cantina
She wants to be escorted to Prubisk, a stop on the Chanestin route. All of her staff left her stranded.
Industrial interests on Skeen paid her staff to stop her, and will try to stop/kill her
