Shadow crabs - fleet box way too much now?

SQ: Would you want to see an expanded shadow fleet list, possibly with battle or war priority versions of the classic shadowship?

I'm hoping to instigate some changes if I can gather enough support, you interested?

As I said in another thread, we, the players, the fans, need to take charge of this game. We should write up a .pdf rule book with new corrected lists. We could then offer several levels of Shadowcrab (sorry I like the name).

I'm all for it.

I think the Death Cloud is about right, its big and nasty you can think of sitting the Death Cloud on an opponants ship and nuke it

Meglos, Bud, your shadow fleet is the match for my Vorlons, 7 Heavy Cruisers, ^ light Cruisers, 6 destroyers and 8 transports. Any time you feel up to fighting my big yellow bananas you know where I am.

I know you feel the shadow ship underpowered, it certainly looks it compared to the VHC, but, your ability tro dance around and attack in the flanks or the rear, would I think, more than make up for the difference in the stat line.

I've always wondered why the Hunter was in the Shadow list anyway...it was made by the EA supposedly, and is only seen after the shadows leave for the rim...

In my experience, the Vorlons have a very hard time against the Shadows because Vorlon ships only have weapons in their F arc. If the Shadows can start with a substantial part of their force in hyperspace and phase in where the Vorlons can't hit them, the Vorlons have a very hard time. The restricted weapon arcs and lack of anti-fighter defenses of the Vorlon ships was another critical vulnerability though as I understand it they have some sort of fighter defense now.

Once my opponent figured out how to maneuver the Shadow ships, he won every single time he brought them out against my Vorlons.

The Shadow "Hunter" is indeed a Shadow vessel; EA just started building their own. This is revealed in a Crusade script.

I believe that the term "battlecrab" was revealed in the cancelled computer game "Into the Fire", which is supposedly canon (in the same way that Babylon 5 WARS is/was canon).

Anyway, I still take it that there is only one type of "battlecrab" in ACtA? If yes, that seems like a massive oversight; considering that there are a million and one variants for other races' vessels.

It won't be forever from what I've seen, or at least not exclusively.

I would assume that the one 'Battlecrab' is the one deemed to have won the evolutionary contest when the Shadows were designing their ships. You don't need variants if your one design is really, really capable.

Although I do like the idea of perhaps allowing variants based on the age of the ship, to represent them perhaps being fielded as 'younger' ships, allowing a lower PL design, then the older ships up in War and Armageddon.

over Cenuarys they grow on planets with Drakh and others watching as keepers, read Darkness and light book for the 1st edition tells you how there grown

right hand of god thats a game i will be happy to play but only after iv tested the shadows out first i do think the armageddon level needs a few more damage tho but going back to the thread its a good value for its price you just need a friend to buy loads of ships so you can field your box set hehehehe  saying that i think my ancients will only get used at christmas when we do really big games

Meglos my vorlon fleet has just about enough for you to be able to field 4 or 5 of your ancients. I am sure if I squardon up a mix of 3 VHC and 3 VLC they will put out the concentrated fire power to take down your ancients without the adaptive armour. :D

why did you but 2 copies of armageddon? Were you hoping the second was part 2? a version without typos? Worth the money? snigger

right hand of god i got the second copy for coursair and youve changed your tune about the vorlons now i take it your impressed with there new stats if its a game you want with them how about our annual ea v vorlons ?

Meglos: It is not so much changing my tune about the vorlons. I think the transport is a poor raid ship and I think the destroyer is a wimp at battle with only AP. However, following recent changes I think the game has turned into "Rock, Paper, Scissors" as somebody termed it on another thread.

I think the Vorlons and shadows are well matched Rocks in that regard. You have the speed and manouverability, I have the firepower and the damage. I think it would be an interesting match, certainly more so that the SFOS versions of the two fleets.

Against ancients I thik the vorlons could take them if they have a turn that goes in their favour, they have the range to be able to ignore a couple of your ships for a turn or two. I seriously don't see the ancients any one of them, as being worth two VHCs.

As for how they fare against other races, hard to tell. but before your EA face my giant bananas they are going to have to face my Drakh
