Shadow crabs - fleet box way too much now?

Am I right that Shadow Battlecrabs are now Armageddon level? That means that those of us who bought the Shadow fleet box have 4 models of a ship we'd be lucky to field one of?

Tell me there's a "smaller" version of the Crab so I can use my models against something other than the Excalibur.

I have the same problem - I have many more shadow ships (battlecrabs) than Hunters. I'm not a big fan of the Hunter (I have two) though my opponents sometimes let me use the battlecrab model as a subsitute for a hunter though...

Simply rule the Hunter as a small, young, just awakened battlecrab for the fun of it.

If you only field Hunters there is little reason to differentiate between Hunters or shadow ships.

Plus the model of the battlecrab looks alot better than the Hunter.

yep, whilst I dont actually MIND the hunter I far prefer to use shadow ships to represent them unless Im using ACTUAL shadowships too.

Personally Id be tempted to play the game when using shadows more 'as per the show' anyway (ie use shadowships only and simply play bigger games (ie 5 pt War vs 2 Shadowships and 3 scouts)

I wonder if they are going to change the Shadow fleet boxed set now that the shadow ship is an armagaeddon level choice and someone might be able to use two of the four of them included and only then in a war level game?

I take it that ACtA doesn't have variants of the basic Shadow "spider"? B5Wars had the wee little patrol cruiser, a carrier and the basic cruiser using the same (basic cruiser) hull type; the patrol cruiser sounds like just the ship to fill the missing niche. The patrol cruiser was about 1/3 the points cost of the basic cruiser (i.e., less damage absorption, less structure and a smaller main gun).

Since Shadow vessels grow; it makes sense that some are less combat effective than others (those that are more mature being the best obviously).

Why do people call it a "battlecrab?" The Shadow Ship has no resemblance to a crab at all... :?
What about this one:

Or, maybe Z'Ha'Dum is in the crab nebula?

Well Matthew said they're not changing the ISA box, but it doesn't have quite the same magnitude of problem.

I really do hate the term Battlecrab, and Spitfire, silly fan created names. They didn't do the same with the Vorlons, so why do the Shadows suffer such a fate...

I dunno, Squid is a popular name for the Vorlon ships.

Ah but thats an actual nickname...

Battlecrab and Spitfire are used like actual class names.
Just look at B5Tech...

*Edit
OH NO!!!!!!
Vorlon Lightning-class fighters and Ambassadore(?)-class Transports!

Black! Black! Like my soul!!!!

Bwahahahahahahaha...

me and my friends like to play big games really big but i think they will draw the line when i tell them in using my shadow fleet of 8 shadows 4 hunters and 6 scouts hell i dont think they even have fleets that big i wouldnt mind but im not happy with the new shadow stats i may do what has been suggested and use the hunter stats for my shadows its either that or not use them at all

Well you could get them to all ally together and refight one of the big multi-race battles from the series.

Might leave you a little over worked though...

The Shadows had a good chunk of time where very little was revealed about hem... Just the occasional glimpse of ships, often with the Hyperspace background behind them... As such, I think the internet community started classifying and describing them, so the informal names stuck.

Vorlons, while no more chatty about their ships, were at least a bit more open the rare times you saw them.

On the shadow fleet question the answer is simple. Make sure that the Vorlons come out when the shadows do, they have ships of the same size so that will balance them out.

Besides, your looking at it the wrong way, just think how much more value your getting for the shadow fleet box set, it now has 154 points of ships at patrol level, pretty sure that's more than any other fleet box set.

Celebrate, don't complain
