Series characters outside the series

Based on the fact that the ISA teeps could take out the shadow ships when the real fighting broke out though, it is unlikely that they acquired enough teeps for this purpose. So there is nothing wrong with using keffer.

Well that was because thanks to Bester, B5 were able to acquire the 100 or so teeps that were placed in cryro. If it had n't of been for that then these 100 teeps would surely have been implanted in more Shadow Ships, which would have made it harder for the Alliance of Light to vanquish them.

To give a reply to the original question: I have just started a B5 campaign and in the first real adventure I used Lord Refa and Carvin (from the Technomage trilogy). The players were on Raghesh 3 when the Narns attacked and Carvin was along as their passanger. The players didn't know (and still dont) that she was a technomage student. Together they smuggled Lord Refas nephew out of the planet and players got a nice reward from Refa for it. Since the players were Earth Alliance traders the Narns let them go after they had recorded a propaganda statement for the Narns.

Im planning to use some of the characters from the series in some of my other adventures as well. When done in moderation it ties the adventures nicely to the series. As with Carvin it is also nice to bring in some characters that the players don't recognize immediately. Im planning to use Carvin again later when she has become a real technomage.

You only get Carvin as a Technomage from the end of Season 1 until "Geometry of Shadows", unless you change the book. Even then, she was busy according to the book after the convocation.

Actually I was planning to use Carvin at the time of "Geometry of Shadows" and maybe once before that (without her using her powers openly). If I recall the dates correctly there is room for a little adventure between the convocation and GoS. Carvin could be making preparations for the passing in almost anywhere in the known space. The idea is to have the players realize that she was a technomage when the mages are leaving and pass through B5.

IIRC, The Convocation ended on New Years Eve with all the mages splitting up to do various preparations for leaving. Carvin and Alwyn get to B5 early to leak some info for Elric's plan. The book doesn't mention how far in advance they got to B5 (I don't think, but the book is at the Library), but should have been only a few days. Should be time for a visit or two. Especially, since Alwyn and Carvin left their Pinnaces somewhere else before going to B5.

The Shadows used telepaths as CPUs for their ships only very late in the war, after they had noticed that the Alliance of Light had found out how to use telepaths against them. See the Technomage Trilogy for more info on this.

Some of Alwyn's activities are also covered in the third volume of the Technomage trilogy. As regards Carvin, she should have arrived on B5 at least twow eeks before the events of The Geometry of Shadows.

I really like the Keffer idea... now to find some way my players might get to bond with him (we're currently early in season 2)...

Somewhere in Summoning Light, Elric says that they will have 15 days for preparation at B5, and they prepare for their Exodus 17 days before - thus, Alwyn and Carvin would have to be at B5 two days before everyone else.

The first adventure in the campaign I run was set on board the Agamemnon. I used the B story from The Shadow Within and just inserted my players into the story as Earthforce troubleshooters. Also the group is working for General Hague, Sarah is their contact. This allows them to be involved in the conspiracy and Civil War plots, and gives them an in with Sheriden for later. After all, in addition to working with Hague, they helped save his ship in the first adventure.
In addition, on a recent job on Praxis the players rescued Dureena Nafeel from a slaver. She mentioned to Captain Gideon that she had been a slave there when they were breaking into the colony, but she did not mention how she escaped. So I decided the players were the reason she got out. They weren't there to rescue her, rather they were rescuing one of the party the slaver had kidnapped. But she wound up getting released with the rest of the slaves, and since she helped a little the players are beginning the education in self defense and other general taking care of herself skills that will serve her well when she heads out on her own. It also means that if the campaign lasts into the Crusade era, the players will have an in onto the Excalibur.
Also, if you look closely at Keffer in the beam he is starting to steam and melt. But of course you can always change that for your campaign if you wish.

Bah... The Shadows cured Morden of being exposed to a nuke (actually two). I guess the can fix a little burnt skin

I gamemaster a campaign on board of the EAS Lepanto,
an old refitted Nova Star Ship exploring the Space beyond
Minbari Territory.

The Crew is on a two year mission...
you get the picture.

I got the idea from the old Earthforce Sourcebook from
Chameleon Electic.

In Session one, the player travelled to Minbari space,
the second session they become Troubleshooter for the Minbari,
fighting against the allies of the Trigati.

In the third session...

I can't remember his name exactly but Sheridan's friend Captain Jack who has the Explorer (I think that's it. The one's that build jump-gates) ships seemed to just vanish could be useful. President Clark wants some dirt on Sheridan and sends some folk to meet him as drinking buddies perhaps?

Sorry, i forgot to mention that the EAS Lepanto is
commanded by Captain Jack Maynard.
The same captain Maynard mentioned in the post above.

My bad

Sheridan calls Maynard 'Stinky'.

Can somebody remeber, if also the
Nickname 'Texas' Jack Maynard was used?

Best regards
Beckett

A few possiblities include:

Neroon up until his sacrifice, although a member of the Grey Council he does seem to get out quite a bit. Probably in my top 10 characters from the show.

Mr Wells John Vickey's other character, a consumate surviivor and liable to turn up pretty much anywhere. He only turns up once each in B5 & Crusade but I think he's a great character.

Captain Jack The resistance courier/agent not to be confused with Capt. Jack "Stinky" Maynard. Anytime before his unfortunate demise in a Martian Tube Train. Actually there's great potential for building his
"implantation" into a story.

Ironheart's little Buddy I don't think they ever gave him a name, but he was the leader of the "Blips" in "A Race through Dark Places" and spoke to Garibaldi about Petrovich's murder in "Chrysalis". It was hinted he was a powerful teep.

N'Krath N'Krath seems to disappear sometime in 2258-9, it could be cool to write his demise, possibly at the hands of Deuce, into a game set at that time. In fact I may well do that.

Heh I had the same idea about N'Grath (the bug monster who runs the crime on B5 during season 1). I noticed that he just up and vanishes with no explanation and thought an early plotline where the PCs are involved in his downfall would be cool. Anyone know what species he is?

One of the Mongoose books I have, and I can't remember which, says that N'Grath fled the station because there was no way he wouldn't be blamed for Garabaldi's shooting. That seemed like a bit of a cop out and I intend to ignore it when I run that plotline, but even if you want to take the book at its word, if the PCs had enough of an impact on his rackets before Garabaldi got shot, he might feel far more inclined to cut and run.

There's a mention in season 5 (I think) that "Ever since N'Grath went down there's been a lot of people who think they run Downbelow" (paraphrasing there) so late series they do mention he went down...somehow...just how is up to the PCs.

Anyone know what species he is?

I don't think it's ever mentioned, I can't remember the episode, but when Londo is being plagues by insects in his quarters, he says something like "I do not like bugs, well apart from the "X", but only because they are terrible at cards, something to do with compound eyes, I think!" Must track down the episode, because N'Grath is probably one of them. It might've been Vendrezi. I'll get back to you.

I dug it up. Londo's bug hunt is in Sic Transit Vir (3rd season). I haven't checked the episode for the actual name, but weren't the Vendrezi the memory critters that Marcus and Franklin discovered bonding to lurkers? I'll look for that reference tonight, if I have the time. (though I have to assume N'Grath is good at cards...can you be a crime lord and be bad at cards?)

I was planing on using him at some point. If I remember correctly, he was also "modified" like Ironhearth although the effect on him was obviously less important. A wild card like a telepath improved to an unknown level is a very versatile tool for a GM...
