Second edition

Can someone shed any light on what changes will be made to second edition Conan versus current edition?

Thanks in advance!

Nope, the Atlantean Edition was a much needed rewrite of the first core rulebook.

Second Edition is an actual re-envisionment of the Core Rules, or at least how they stand at the moment.

Matthew will probably come on here and say more when he can.

Cheers,
Bry

I hope to learn more about the Second Ed. too, cause I am unsure as to whether or not I want to buy it or not if the rules are going to be making huge sweeping changes. Though the AE has some stuff in it I am not too fond of, I could use some clarification on certain things.

Bear in mind that a Bestiary book is due out along with the second edition, so I'd imagine more explanation of rules, more spells, more classes, and, in a nutshell, more rules, what with the extra pages available with no bestiary to fill them up.

Frankly, I'm hoping for an excersize in completeness more than anything else. I hope they consolidate and clean up rules from all over the place and get them all into one, single main rule book.

It was just some kind of humor.

Anyone got an idea of when this "second edition" of Conan might be coming out? 8)

Mongoose Hall?

Just trying to get an idea so I can make sure I have the silver set aside to purchase it.

That would be nice. And include things that are missing, like rules on torches (how much damage they do), the swimming chart (referenced in the text, but not in the book!), etc.

Exactly. And they have all the pages that the old bestier took up in which to do it.

As far as "when", I believe the rumored timeframe (assuming a UK release window here, people) is late summer. I'd bet Christmas-time or so just to work the kinks out and get everything just right...

For my own personal edification, I would like to know which rules in the SRD did not make it into the AE that could have. Feel free to give some things for version 2.0 suggestions.

If there is already a thread discussing this please lead me in the right direction.

If there isn't such a thread, might be good to start one, and break it into two categories of discussion: rules that did not make it in that should (i.e., my reference above to torch damage) and apparent editing errors (such as the missing swimming chart).

The differences between the first printing of the Conan RPG and the Atlantean Edition are in that link at the bottom of my posts, in my sig. I can't recall any SRD specific stuff not being in Conan other than the little bits like torches and what's already been mentioned.

I'm sure someone's covered it in a different thread, but searching it would be futile. (lol) If someone has the short list and can post it here, that'd be nice. It's not much though, as I recall...

There's a lot missing, but you have to figure out where to draw the line between having the entire SRD and just what's mostly needed. A bit of environmental matters would be good to include, so you have some context on the Endurance feat, as well as generally because it's good to know what happens to the characters when they are chased into the desert with no provisions.

My poor AE book is looking a little experienced itself after so much adventuring so it'd be nice to lay it to rest in glory, seriously though having not run a d20 game before Conan there was a lot of environmental stuff I wasn't sure at all how to handle.

Revised rules are good, but I hope it mostly stays the same now everyones used to the system. Some of the things that have gotten extra of attention like DB and high living (one of my favorite rules) will have some expectations on them but other stuff like the classes & massive damage I think are great as is.

Ok, well I only have one concern about this.... being a avid supporter of this series... What about the books? I mean, I have every release, and in some cases (my ex-girlfriend trying to make up with me) two copies of some of the books. What is to become of all my knowledge? Will I have to buy new and revised books for suplements....

This very concern in mind I purchased two of the rule book plus two of the pocket edition so that I would have one my desk for prep work and one rough and mishandled copy at the gaming table for quick reference. Now it looks like Ill have to sell another kid to get a couple of the new edition too!

The vast majority of content in those other books is just that, content, and not crunch, so there's not much otherwise that would need to be updated probably.

I'm with you there, I have a pocket edition to keep at work when working on game stuff, as well as the hardbound at home...
