Russian Organisation - for Comrade Evil

Mongoose
Here's my take on Soviet \ Russian organisation - sorry - no idea on what points are appropriate

Motor Rifle Platoon
This is based on the Soviet Era organisation or the CIS troops in the first Chechen War, or the current line troops. Can be transported in 3 APCs or AIFVs, Platoon Command is split evenly between vehicles and recombines on dismounting.

Platoon Command
1 Officer w AK
1 Senior NCO w AK
1 Sniper w SVD

3 Motor Rifle Squads each
1 NCO w AK
1 Jnr NCO w AK
1 Gunner w RPK SAW
5 Riflemen w AK

Options
Replace 1 Rifleman w AK with Gunner with RPG (technically he carries an AK in addition to his RPG)
Add a BG15 Grenade launcher to any one AK armed figure
Upgrade 1 AK armed rifleman to RPK SAW
Upgrade 1 RPK to PK LMG
Drop up to 2 Riflemen per squad
Better trained units can operate as two fire teams. The manouvre element consisting of the NCO, RPG (if any), second SAW (if any) and 1 Rifleman, the fire support element of Jnr NCO, first SAW and 1-2 Riflemen

Weapons
AK is either AK47 or AK74 or AK106/7 (use AK103 stats)
RPK – range 24” 1D6 damage, add second D6 if ready,
PK – use Minimi stats
BG15 treat as M203
RPG – initially RPG 7, use RPG 29 stats

Infantry initially would be unarmoured, ie would be 4+ Hit and no save
Body armour was introduced slowly in Afghanistan and is now common, so armoured troops would get a save, although the original body armour was shown not to be great against the Mujahadeen .303 Lee Enfields, so maybe 6+ upgrading later to 5+.
There is no current equivalent to Landwarrior

Other stuff
The platoon would have other weapons attached such as AGS 17 auto grenade launchers, RPO launcher teams (thermobaric warheads), HMGs and MAPADS. Platoons mounted in BMP AIFVs would also be capable of dismounting the BMPs ATGW systems. There are also disposable AT rockets such as RPG18 but BFEVO seems to be avoiding them at the moment.

Any thoughts?

Airborne and MVD later

nice, definatly some thoughts there, realy need to look into doing me russians, but info is hard to come by, il see what i can do with your list though with pints and stuff.

Download the merc army list and use the merc squad with changes. And give them all body armour (6+).

The MVD and elite frontline troops are now volunteers, not conscripts, in the Russian army, and are starting to wear body armour.

The PKM has different stats to the minimi/249 SAW in BF:Evo.

Yup - I know the MVD and elites are volunteers - this is for the Motor Rifles as stated in the first para.

Where do I download the Mercs list?

I think the bipod PKM would be similar stat wise to the Minimi, as the RPK is pretty much a heavy barrel rifle or mag fed LMG rather than a SAW with a belt feed such as a minimi. The PKM on the Hilux is actually more akin to a PKMS on a pintle mount with a ready supply of belt fed ammo, not being humped around by a pi**ed off squaddie. If you put it on a tripod you would get another set of numbers.

I have plenty of info on the Desant but the actual organisation for MVD troops is pretty sparse - the best I can get is the changes they made after the First Chechen debacle plus a bit of a guess.

Interestingly Putin wants to switch to a professional army as soon as he possibly can, and Russia has signed a deal with Saudi Arabia to supply them with T-95s (the Black Eagle is not going into production).

What AT weapon are the Russians using, RPG-29s in squads or ATGW of some sort?

Not sure as far as official TOEs go, but they are not fighting armour at all so they seem to be using up those endless stocks of RPG7s and RPOs
