Other squad choices....

If I am correct the basic infantry platoon has:

2-4 squads
1 tank per 2 squads
1 support per squad
1 transport per squad

and so on...

I am guessing that when the German Heer Squad shows up they will be another squad choice and likewise the MEA state troops should be an additional squad choice, but I have to wonder if the USMC and PLA will see other options for base squads? If so what would they have?

If I am not mistaken the USMC has 3 Rifle Platoons and one Support Platton per company. What if there were a squad from the Support Platoon that you could attach to your forces something like:

USMC Fire Support Squad

1 sargeant
Team 1 - Corporal w/ M4, Gunner with M240B, 2 Riflemen w/ M4
Tema 2 - Corporal w/ M4, 2 Gunners with SMAWs, 1 Rifleman w/ M4

options for adding one copy each of team 1 or 2. You could then only allow one of these teams per platoon.

I think that would effectively allow some support from the weapons section, although I might not have the loadout exactly right. Would this be fair as a squad choice or would it need to be a support choice?

I suppose there could also be a USMC Recon Squad choice, like a LAV dismount team. Although I don't know if they would be different enough from the regular squad to warrant the trouble. I suppose they could show up as just a variant card though.

I have no idea what an alternate squad for the PLA would look like. Maybe a poorly equipped dirt cheap squad. 10 guys with only rifles for say.....100 points, with no options for splitting into fire teams to reflect their poor training.

Thohgts? Ideas?

I like the sound of having a cheap as chips PLA squad, 10 guys with rifles, maybe give them a condensed FZ as well (3" rather than 6") similar to the LAMI actually from SST. This would give them a far greater feeling of an irresistble wave of humanity, sweeping across the battlefield.

I was tempted to say give them an RPG or the ability to buy one but I think probably not, they should look to the existing squad for that support, or dedicated support teams which I am sure will be released.

Yeah, a PLA unit equivelant to the MEA basic squad would be a good addition to their forces.

Given the USMC already have the Force Recon team as a support choice, I don't see them getting another recon team as a squad choice, and I'd be hard pressed to think of another basic squad type they could take.

How about rather than giving the USMC a seperate infantry squad which just doesn't make sense, how about putting out the US Army (using that other camo patern :D ), you could then have US Armed forces, with the ability to launch joint USMC / US Army combat missions... If they do that ?

DOH

I have just thought of a 2nd troop choice for the US, National Guard units.... Loose tactical feeds, Land Warrior, and reduced armour of 6+, dunno do the NG get Saws? Also limit the transport options available to them....

The Guard is a great idea...but I think they only work with the US Army.

Maybe a USMC Reserve Squad, there's a good chance that in the BFE timeframe the Reservists won't be sporting MERS or Landwarrior. They could drop that and the intelligence feeds rules, but Reserve and Guard units would have SAWs and M203s as well.

I honestly have no idea what weapons the NG use, and the quick search I did online didn't have any info.

I suppose you could do a TA version for the Brits, or some form of conscription force for the EFTF, as far as I am aware none of the countries in Europe keep a large standing army, so it might be nessicary to bolster them with TA or conscription force.... it could be a solution to our burgeoning prison population, or a solution to illegal immigration.... Sort of like what the Roman Empire did, serve X number of years in our military and gain citizenship.

The National Guard uses the exact same stuff the regular US army uses. Just perhaps not in the same quantities for the more tech stuff. They have all the same weapons and vehicles. And the Marines have a reserve program as well so you could make Marine Reservists.
