Roll20 - Traveller 2e Official Character Sheet - Updates

Hi Terry,

So I've looked into this and I have a workaround (I hope). I have just submitted the latest character sheet code to Roll20 and this change would be a bit icky to modify the way skills and specialties are working...

Sooo...here is a picture:

So what I propose (which you are probably already doing) is set up the specialties for each characteristic with their skill levels, then drive the roll by selecting the top level Athletics characteristic and hitting the relevant roll button on the 'specialty'...

Will that serve for now?

Cheers,

That is what I’m doing and I can certainly keep doing it. Thanks for looking into it.

Hi All,

Latest version of the character sheet is live with the following fixes/features:

Version 1.1.04

  • Widened animal attribute fields
  • Added Equipment drag-and-drop block to NPC
  • Widened vehicle input fields
  • Widened weapon name field and narrowed DM to Str/Dex (rather than Strength/Dexterity)
  • Widened armour name field
  • Added 'delete' icons to weapons, armour and equipment
  • Fixed where some equipment has no description but has an 'Effect' instead, like base modules
  • Fixed bug in animal attacks where e.g. 2D+2 was not correctly parsed properly
  • Added some missing translations, more to do
  • Extended NPC to include species and age and editable name
  • Added 'standard' skills from PC tab to NPC tab (old skills are retained as 'Other Skills')
  • Added some extra equipment fields into equipment description for computers/software to show capability
  • Fixed spacecraft weapons resize column issue
  • Added traits to weapon description
Any issues, obviously let me know 😀,

A question I probably already know the answer to from my Roll20 experience in other games. is there a way for a GM to create new equipment that can then be drag and dropped onto the character sheet or does it need to be equipment from an official compendium?

Hi Valkyrie,

Not that I’m aware of I’m afraid, the drag and drop is specifically a compendium -> character sheet programming interface…

FYI, in a similar vein to this I have in the latest sheet release added an ‘Upload’ facility under the Help tab with a text field that takes a JSON string. (JSON is a structured data format).

I did this because my compendium page development pipeline spits out NPC data in JSON format and I can auto-populate an NPC character sheet with one click. I got soooo tired of manually adding the little buggers!

I’m looking to extend this to Animals and Spacecraft (again to automate compendium add-on dev), but it could also handle Weapons, Armour and Equipment…

So I could envisage a scenario where some sort of web front end could generate JSON strings that users could then one-click upload to a character sheet…

All kind of embryonic at the moment, and would be a fair amount of work…but the sort of thing I find interesting to think about 🤔🤣,

I like the sound of this.

very nice

Under finances, there needs to be a spot for monthly salary. Not everyone is a freelancer. Some are paid ship's crew.
Roger that! Will add to next release!

EDIT: There is a Crew sub-tab under Ship which I think has salary and gets summed up on the main Ship tab somewhere… But I guess both is good 👍

Well, the characters I'm working with are employees of an NPC (the Singularity Campaign) so they don't get to be collectively covered as they don't own the ship.

On the combat tab, there is no way to add miscellaneous DMs like P-HUDs, Scopes, etc. to the weapon. You can add that kind of miscellaneous thing to the skill, but the weapon doesn't directly reference the skill (you have to manually enter it) so that's no help.

Hi Terry,

No there’s just a Misc. Mod isn’t there…?

I’ll have a think how it could be done, basically a repeating group under each weapon for this kind of thing…

Not under weapons. I could (and am) using the skill slot for that, but as the weapon also uses the stat modifier, it isn't a straight tally of the end result on the skill.

As it used skill and characteristic, it really needs the miscellaneous modifier spot as well to have all the aspects that come into play for the weapon. Each one could be different. One might have a scope, the next not. That kind of thing.

To expand on my thinking, it doesn't need to be a repeating group under the weapon. Just an additional spot to add modifiers for that one specfic weapon. Like in skills. See?

Not sure if it needs trained, but it might, I suppose. Thoughts?
