Then my only question is, is this indeed universal?

With the...shall we say, ad-hoc nature of the MEA armies, it strikes me that those ratios might be in some small need of tweaking. After all, if I field a dozen MEA Infantry (I persist in thinking of them as "Militia") squads, then that's half a dozen Zulfiqar's I can bring along into the bargain - points, notwithstanding.

Even if the MEA MBT proves only so-so, that's still...a hell of a lot of heavy metal.

In a tank platoon you've a minimum number of tanks, and can tate X amount of infantry per Y number of tanks. And you can take multiple platoons in larger forces. And the MEA work a little bit different.

hope the pla are a bit different, hope they can have 1 tank per squad, as they are are suposed to be able to feild waves of tanks, or do they have to obey the same restrictions as eft and yanks.

Wow, I didn't realise a tank platoon was possible. So the minimum number of tanks you must take is 4? How many infantry squads could you take for five tanks?

Without knowing how many tanks I need for a tank platoon I guess it's best to wait until the rulebook comes out before I buy any minis. I've waited this long for the game I can wait another couple of months.

Well, in the real world, there are typically four tanks to a platoon.

My question would be... what's the maximum number of infantry squads can be fielded per platoon? I'm expecting to see a lot of USMC or PLA units stripped down to their bare minimum (that is, USMC squads minus a fire team, and PLA squads minus their MG and second anti-tank squads) in order to field more tanks. Is it a good tactic? No, these sorts of armies will break easier... but they'll be fielded anyway unless there's some sort of maximum number of squads per platoon.

What I meant was, what's the make-up of a tank platoon? I expect I can take four tanks for a platoon (is that the minimum or can I have an understrength platoon?). I was thinking of a tank platoon plus two helicopters plus an infantry platoon squeezed in 3,000 points. Are there rules for command tanks or do I need to take two command infantry squads? Hopefully, they'll release the army composition rules in an S&P because trying to put together an army shouldn't be this enigmatic when the game has already been released.

Well, in the basic rules you can take anything you want.

In the advanced, you can generally assume 2 infantry for each tank just about. So you can be reasonably safe in buying 2 tanks at least.

thats a realy cool idea actualy take several min sized squads to max on tanks then get a few full squads in transports for taking hold of areas. your a star.

That is interesting, because you could technically split the EFTF Brit infantry boxes into 2 squads, nboth consisting of a Fire Team 1. Ok it costs you extra points for the same guys, but it lets you field more tanks.
Unless the rules forbid such a tactic.

how differently do the mea work praytell ?

Annoyingly, this whole 1 Transport per Squad thing means that an all warrior-munted infantry platoon can't have a ride for the Lt, unless he shares space with a half-strength Infantry Section (The Command Section is of type Command, not type Squad).

just take a half size squad and use them as body guards for your comand section and they can all get pally and share the same warrior ;)

just think slightly outside the box
