Red Brick Joins Flaming Cobra - Fading Suns

Just as Babylon 5 rpg comes to an end, Fading Suns roars back to life. I can't wait to see what comes out. I'm guessing the first book out will be third edition of the Core book, but i'm hoping later books will be additions to the setting rather than updates of the setting, such as books of the remaining alien races, the third War of Heaven book and perhaps a second Star Crusade detailing more lost worlds and the Rweng worlds

This is definitely good news. I am a long time fan of Fading Suns. At fist it was a good substitute for a Dune game but in the end it stands on it's own.

There were two aspects that didn't work too well, though and I hope that they are remedied in the 3rd edition.

1) While I liked the combat in general (especially maneuvers making the difference between skilled fencer and less skilled fencer really pronounced) damage and armor systems were less than optimal.

2) Monetary system was a bit unclear. 1 Firebird was supposed to be a lot of money but still you could not get even a decent night at the inn with it, IIRC. Wings and Talons made the system all the more murky :(

Still, the universe is fascinating and I just love the factions and how you can actually make a PC group from different factions.

Oh I'm glad to see Fading Suns stuff come back into print.

I love the setting but I seriously hope the 3rd edition system gets a major overhaul. I'm currently running fading suns with BRP and it works nicely.

Hi,

I ran Fading Suns with the 7th Sea mechanics, Heroquest and the Cortex systems and all worked brilliantly, although 7th Sea was tops for me...
