Re: 2nd Edition Dargan gets Stealth

Just been looking through my 2nd Ed Fleet book and noticed that the Dargan has gone up to Battle Lv but now comes with Stealth 4+ and 2 flights of Rutarians.

Never really liked the ship before but now think its pretty cool.

Especially as it was the first centauri mini I brought (old AOG one) from my LGS.

What do the rest of you guys think :?:

It is looking like a good choice now, definitely worth considering over the Primus for a battle level unit.

It´s closer to the original AOG fluff this way (in which it was a newly developed, high-tech stealth ship, for espionage and attacks behind enemy lines. At elast that´s how I remember it, I could look it up in the old War of Retribution book)

Its good - the Centauri have a very nice variety of Battle choices - my fav is the new Liaiti 8) (hoping fro a new model eventually !) - but the Dargan is good - more than risky against the Minbari - I see you says the Leshath!

I really like the stats for the Liati as well..... a massive shame the mini is just so..... well.................. Anne Summers looking!

Am keeping my figures crossed for a new mini soon, lets hope mongoose commission the dude who designed the Gaim to do it

I really like it but I'm biased since I long advocated this change

With the Dargan going up to battle I'm a bit light in lower level ships. Might have to invest in some Demos as the model is so good looking.

yeah thats true for me at raid level, used 2 dargans. now have 6 battle level vessels, 2 primus, 2 dargans, 2 liatis.

very very nicely at Raid! 8) Fleet carrier makes the Liatis Rutarians even nicer (+1 Dogfight) and with a nice mix of 6 Sentri and 2 Razik...............(how I use anyway)

My base 5pt raid is Liati, Balvarian, Maximus, Demos, Demos, Kutai, Haven (x2)

Sometimes swap a Covran for Demos - but prob not,..............

On a Lark last weekend I ran a 6pt raid fleet of an Altarian, Centurian, 4 Demos, and 4 Maximus against the Dilgar. The Dilgar player fielded 2 Targrath, 1 Omelos, 1 Ochliavida, 2 Rohics, 2 Josikurs, and a Gariscoh. I actually managed to out Dilgar the dilgar. The Ion Cannons on the Demos are really over the top. I ran them in squadrons of 2 and it was just brutal. With the guardian arrays on the maximus to assist the Demos, they are really nasty ships. When we called the game, I lost the Centurian and 1 Demos, the Dilgar lost 2 Targraths, a Rorhic, and had a half dead Omelos. The Demos were going to get behind the Dilgar and rip them apart.


If I was going to drop it down to 5 raid, I would likely drop the Altarian, even though I really like the fig.

Yeah Demos is very nasty - better than the Vorchan I think - not hugely - helps you can close blast doors while your torps are reloading! Not convinced by Centurion - rather have a Balvarian

The problem with the Demos is the 10 AD on it's Ion Cannon is prob. 3-4 AD too much, especially since you can CBD every turn and kill things dead.

I didn't take the Balvarian as I do not have a Balvarian fig at the moment. I might get one, but not sure.

The Centurian is really good, especially when you pair it with a Maximus or 2 to provide it with interceptors.

Other than the Demos/Vorchan and the 2 for 1 Haven, I have very few issues with the new version of the Centauri, however I have not run the new Sullust yet to see just how bad the 4AD of precise beam is yet.

The only other race I that I have real concerns about for 2nd Edition is the Vree. They were born again hard. there are going to be a lot of people upset at the Xeel, Zonn, Xill, Vaarl, and others I can't remember off the top of my head. That is a fleet with an awful lot of firepower.
