Hey friends, I have a quick question I was hoping someone could answer about space combat.
In the Designing Spaceships section, you can buy a ships computer and the Evade software. The evade software states: "The computer reacts automatically to incoming fire, applying a negative
DM of –1. The ship can make a number of dodges each round equal to
the listed number."
This confused me, since normally a dodge is made by the pilot. He uses a thrust point to do a reaction, takes a pilot check, and if he's successful imposes a -2DM on the attack roll. So how does the Evade software work? Does it allow the ship to automatically pass the pilot roll but only apply a -1DM? Does it apply a base -1DM on top of any dodge rolls? Is the pilot bound by the number of dodges allowed by the evade software or can he make as many as he want?
Thanks for any explanations!
