Question re: Mercenary and the CSC

The method Mercenary uses to deal with spacecraft armor seems to be to use it to reduce damage directly on a point for point basis after the personal-scale damage amount is divided by 50 and to completely ignore the armor piercing effects of extreme TL rounds in the Central Supply Catalog even if they're fired from cannon the size of World War II railroad guns like Anzio Annie.

Am I reading that right?

Yes. Never bother shooting at spaceships with ground guns. The rules are full of stupid...

For a more constructive post:
Don't Ignore the AP, instead, do the same as for damage, and ignore 1 point of space ship armour for every 50 points of gun AP... It may be possible to get AP 1 with some of the larger guns firing Mega or Ultra AP rounds...

Yep. It is a well known problem of technopsychology. All the high tech
guns have computers, and all these computers have a severe inferiority
complex because starship computers have far more computing power.
They fear their superiority and their potential for retaliation, and there-
fore they avoid to make them angry whenever possible. This is why a
ground based high tech gun never really hits a starship. 8)

Ah ha! That's what I thought. In fact, one could actually get AP 2 if the rolls are good enough.

So divide the damage by 50 but then also follow the rules for the AP rounds and then divide the AP result by 50 as well. I assume I'm to drop all fractions.

Makes sense to me and standardizes scaling on the magic number 50.

Sweet.
