Progress on 2e

You know every self respecting Narn Captain has his ship painted luminous pink at the first chance he gets
I'm tempted to have one luminous pink G'Quan. When asked I'll claim this is the ship that gets that unique paint job on the reroll tables.

I do have one actually luminous Shadow Ship. Unfortunately, luminous paint is actually white, so it's an albino...

I have some green ones to represent Green fleet which apparently their Defense fleet, I know i taken the name of fleet to literally but it looks pretty good. Just waiting on Def Sats & Base to complete it.

One thing I would like in 2.0 is if Babylon 5 (possibly battle station edition) would have a ion cannon, I know I seen it used in one episode to destroy a fighter that was getting to close to C&C its right on the front of the station, right about above C&C and the docking bay. :)

what makes you think that is an ion cannon? :? those were described as centauri weapons.

what you are referring to is already in the rules for Babylon 5 as a "Quad Particle Array"

If anything that gun that destroyed the fighter may have just been part of B5's Defense Network which is also already factored into the rules.

Yeah rules-wise probably, but I swore up and down I heard them refer to it as a ion gun, I also heard them describe starfury guns as quantum ion guns or cannons, too. :)

Where!? They (starfury guns) are referred to in-show as "pulse cannons"

The term "ion cannon" was only used in reference to Centauri weapons.

If I had the DVD's I would search up and down for it, I think, and I think, it was refered to in the episode where ltcmdr Ivanonova (sp) was at episilon eridani, to screw with the targeting of the missles of the machine.

Double checked the episode in question and the starfury guns aren't named at all sorry :?

S & P has made me pretty happy. Overall, I see good things.

I also see some chain yanking (names of new ships and such), but I can't complain. I like the direction of the Centauri... but I always thought "Precise" should be a defacto trait of ion weapons.

I mean, if taking criticals is the purpose of ion weaponry (it is the purpose, right?) than they should have been AP and P or in the case of hvy ion cannons on the Octurian or Adira, SAP and P.

Anyway, no complaints from me... except I hope August (is that set in stone?) gets here soon!

And I'm with Hiff. Give me my Drahk Mothership!

Take your time guys. Lots of moving parts here (some things out there are a bit scary --- losing Traits on crits, revamping the Emines again, Minbari Stealth rejigger, others...) so, if you don't hit August, don't worry .... take your time, get it right, and nail the product.

True story: The lead designer of the Halo series called Halo 2 crap. He says he can't bear to play the multiplayer. Hates the game. In contrast, Halo 1 was a totally revolutionary win. And the thing that made it that way? His team said they extended the release 2 months, and the last 4 weeks took Halo 1 from a good game to one of the greats of all time. Just 10% extra effort doubled the value of the game. The designer then went on to lament that not building into that Halo 2 schedule an extra 2 months just to get the product right was the reason Halo 2 failed. Let's not make the same mistake. Be careful. Take your time. That last extra bit of time can make the difference between Decent and Great.

And I'm willing to wait an extra month or two for Great.

At the moment I feel as though we're rushing things a bit but hopefully when we have a meet up and have time to go back through everything a second (and hopefully third) time, we'll catch 99% of the issues and be left with a rather cool game with more options, more depth and more balance.

As much as it hurts to say it, I agree, take your time and get it right. I have big plans to get people interested in this game and a miss on 2e will hurt my plans.

We should be able to fulfil both wishes - with our new printing facility, we effectively buy ourselves another two months of design, as we can carry on making changes right up to the day it goes to print, if need be.

We have also been preparing this for quite some time - design work on 2e started on pretty much the same day that Armageddon was released, so a great deal of work has gone into it (with more or less weekly updates). Rules-wise, it is looking good, and we are perhaps 90% of the way through the balancing.

Basically, it is all good. . .

Very good news matt. Now you guys just have to get Battle Field Evo out of the crap shot and put figs on the market befor you lack of foresight puts the game out for ever!!!
