Progress on 2e

Lets kill this thread and start another. Isn't 45 pages a bit much? We're way off topic...

Neverthless, I don't want pre-paints.

So, combining our views on it, the best thing would be unassembled plastic minis.

Yes. I would be ALL for that. 100%.

Im not against that at all, Im just saying prepainted goes a long way towards the beginners, hence the "ships of the show" being prepainted plastic statement.

It is unlikely that they will offer unassembled minis that have individualy painted parts.

Possible... but it just seems unusual.

I would prefer:

A box of the iconic ships of B5 - plastic and prepainted assembled and the rest either plastic or metal unassembled.

I like the idea of buying the game with the ability to buy a box of ships ready to play.............

simply my preference and not "the best for all" :D

Prepainted preassembled models have always looked like crap. look at all the click games our there. they look like a kindergardner painted them. and yeah trying to modify them a reall pain. Going to plastic minis is good I played BFG (battlefleet Gothic) and liked being able to attach different parts to make varients and it was easier to paint them. there is a reason they have the counters in the starter set its for beginners and if they do decide to do prepainted junk. then they should make both prepainted preassembled stuff and modles that require assembly that way both sides are happy just going one way or the other would not be to wise I think in the long run if you make both assembly required and suff with no assembly or painting required will bring lots of people to the game.

They may look like junk - or some do but it is still better than I can paint and don't have to be filed, filled, drilled etc.

As long as they're not painted by a 12 year old in some sweat shop in Taiwan for 3 grains of rice a day, that is.

Might be better to just leave the plastic unassembled, and use different coloured plastics (kind of like different coloured Lego bricks) for different fleets. That way they are mostly ready to play out of the box, and those of us who take ages to paint something can still spend ages painting it in our own colours.

seems a good idea -

Shadows - work well - Black
Centauri - purple
Minbari - Blue
Narn?
Earh Alliance - Grey?
Brakari green?
ISa - White?

You know every self respecting Narn Captain has his ship painted luminous pink at the first chance he gets

But if the Centauri are purple, who will the Green Drazi get to fight????
