Prime Directive Traveller

OK, which os just what you have on there, only it doesnt show up until you click on it. Did not realize that until the third time I went back there. Looks just right for me.

Just proves you should not post when you first wake up.

Ian, isn't there a Traveller sort of logo in the name style on the front cover below the picture? We were talking about ADB's logos not being on the front cover so as to not distract from the Traveller part.

Can you point me at a cover that has the logo you are thinking of?

The cover I think is OK:-

The cover I originally looked at:-

HTH :)

You want, and all you need from a Traveller perspecitve is that Black n Red Traveller logo on the front - and also dare I suggest on the back in a rectangle block and on the spine as well.

That is the iconic 'THIS IS TRAVELLER' mark. In my opnion, it is enough for anyone you want to be grabbing it on this basis seeing the side or the front or back to go 'Ooooh, Traveller'.

However, you don't want it too large. This is Prime Directive after all. Prime Directive is the setting, Traveller is the engine - so it shouldn't detract from the core fact this is Prime Directive. As a Traveller player, I want to also know as I look at it that this is not a Traveller/3rd Imperium classic setting item (ie like Hammer's Slammers).

From my other perspective as a player interested in the whole Prime Directive game, I am aware of previous versions and I want to be able to differentiate Traveller driven product from D6 or D20 driven stuff so again the logo is vital, but also secondary - don't get in the way of Prime Directive stuff.

So for me, this

Does the job quite well for a front cover although I have to say I think the Traveller logo is a bit too dominant (and thats as a Traveller player looking to move into PD). Its more dominant in some ways than the PD logo. Look at the relative differences in logo size for Hammers Slammers here
http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/rpgs/traveller/hammers-slammers/hammers-slammers.html
Thats more the ratio Id want/expect...

I'm used to the solid black covers of Traveller and just text. But i can see why ADb is wanting a picture on the cover it helps sales for both.

um... The Prime Directive cover is like, a direct clone of how the "Third Imperium" books mongoose puts out look.

The solid black covers are the "rules", books like for 3I and PD are setting books - Mongoose set up that distinction from the beginning.

ahh, forgot about the 3I.. Then i stand corrected it fits in just fine...

Jean, the artwork is very good. Don't sure ADB's and Mongoose's arrangement is with regard to license/logo display are. From a visual customer point of view though, nicely done! Your D20 version covers were quite nice with that strip of color on the top. The GURPS ones were good too and had the GURPS brand on them.

Also, the more direct comparison is the Babylon Five and Strontium Dog books, which are "alternative settings", too. And they have pictures on their covers, too. (And 2300, Judge Dread, etc., too.)

Any chance on some sneak peek info on this... My gaming group is excited about the release...

Ditto had a d6 game with a clone of the tenth doctor and planned on using the d6 prime directive to continue it, now I'm seriously looking at the traveller system instead!

We are discussing playtesters. We'll probably have a decision on how to jump by Monday. :) This week and last have been a bit swamped on a personal level.
