Power Armor/Battle Dress

Keep in mind: in CT, Striker, AHL, and MT, the actual armor ratings of Combat Armor and Battle Dress are in fact identical.

True but you could do more things in a BD than just Combat Armour.

Battledress was more of a complete package deal.

Electronic aids, limited flight, bigger weapons (P & F guns), Space /Vacc capable...

Mind you, as you pointed out... the armour values are almost the same (or are the same depending on the genre of the game) and once the armour is over come, its squishy/fried meat time...

Take care

I'm sure I remember someone suggesting that the stormtrooper armour would be considered as reflec plate.
I've got a feeling it was mentioned in an old issue of White Dwarf magazine, back when they covered non-Games Workshop products and it was worth buying!!!

<.......whirrrclickclickclickgrindcrunch.....>OMG that was soooo long ago! Yes, I remember that article and it has influenced my view of Reflec ever since. Reflec = Stormtrooper armour. Yes. :D

CES = one step below BD; unpowered, less gizmos installed.

BD = fully powered, able to use F&P guns, full electronic kit, etc.

I prefer to 'design' battledress as a one-man legged tank.
I don't care for the official rating for combat armor as it mass a lot to get those AV's.

BD to me, is more like 'landmates' from the manga "Appleseed"
CA is like star wars stormtroopers ( whose armor didn't help them much )

I don't know if this will mean anything to people, but there's an RPG called Battlelords of the 23rd Century that features the most customizable powered armors I've ever seen in any rpg.

You can add arm rockets, personal force fields, jet packs, shoulder mounted blasters, and a plethora of other stuff. It makes Boba Fett's armor look tame.

I wonder how hard it would be to introduce that level of cutomization to Traveller Battle Dress. I think it might be fun to have PC's who are mercenaries spend their hard earned credits making "upgrades" to their armors.

As it stands, I tend to think of BD as the armors from Halo.

In one of my OTU games I had a belter culture that used long duration TL 13+ "bubble" HE Vac suits of 1/2 to 2 dTons in size. They had mini fusion plants and Thurster plats rated for 0.1 G thrust, ect.

Can you say, "Pimp my space suit" :P
