Match Game was the original USA show that was turned into the Australian Blankety-Blanks.
Match Game first started in the 1960s in a tamer and different version but was canceled in 1969 by NBC. In 1973, it was resurrected in its classic "over the top" version, quickly becoming the #1 game show in America until 1978 when Richard Dawson left for full time duty on Family Feud, the Star Wheel was added and CBS blundered by rescheduling its afternoon time slot to early mornings when none of its millions of fans could watch it. It was unceremoniously canceled in 1981, but came back a few times, never to last in its later incarnations: The Match Game/Hollywood Squares Hour (1983-84, again hosted by Gene Rayburn), Match Game (1990-91, hosted by ALMOST LIVE alumni Ross Shafer) and Match Game (1998, hosted by Michael Burger).
