Opposed Initiative Checks

Every now and then, you see something that makes you think 'huh, that should probably be in the Core Rulebook.'

Just seen the idea of an opposed Initiative check in a forthcoming adventure. In this case it is used to dodge a nasty trap, but it could be used in a variety of situations.

You can use opposed DEX as well, of course, but you might find other, useful factors come into play on an explicit Initiative check.

Thoughts welcomed.

Opposed checks in general can be very useful, in my opinion. Opposed melee rolls when fencing, opposed gun combat rolls in a pistol duel… or as you say, opposed initiative to see who shoots first, Han or Greedo…

EDIT: come to think of it, all examples I have can work off opposed initiative, just let the winner stab/shoot/whatever

Initiative is an opposed check anyway ? The higher effect wins! And unless a trap was spotted it would gain DM+6 for an Ambush? The unaware also getting a DM-6.
