Open Day '07

The Great Maker didn't see a need to make the Narn good dogfighters. Instead of giving fast and maneuverable fighters he gave great big fighters with great big guns for blowing up ships and he gave great big wide dispersal weapons to blow up other fighters. :D

Whereas the Centauri were blessed with great big eyes to see the fighters coming, and great big brains to invent anti-fighter defences, and great big... well, anyway, we pity the Narn...

the t'rann now carries 8 flights (and has carrier 2 IIRC).
as for goriths being only one better as the dogfighters, thats how it works in every race. your dogfighters are one better than your others - starfury +2 T-bolt +1, razik +3 rutarian +2 - notice the trend. narn just obviously are not built for dogfighting :D

Excellent on the T'Rann. At least it is worthy of the "Carrier" name now. I would be happier if they pushed the pushed the gorith's rating up one or at least make it faster though. I guess the things are intended to be pretty worthless compared to frazis. Truthflully, as long as the narn have e-mines able to fire they have little real need of dedicated light fighter-interceptors.

Woot again on the T'Rann though. Glad to see Mongoose paying attention. Useless Narn raid-level ships seem to be a thing of the past (it is still raid right?)

If you are using the new (one-shot) energy mines as anti-fighter weapons then you're really missing out!

True, but my understanding is that the Dag'Kar can reload and is no longer beam-fodder. The ship actually has a reason to exist now. I hope it is still raid though.

think of it as a hull 6 hyperion. its apart from its beam the hyperion outguns it in most arcs and has interceptors but the var'nic is hull 6 (less damage/crew than battle one). although remember with beams hull 6 isnt a huge a thing these days

narn are spoilt for choice at raid now with the carrier, var'nic, dag'kar and g'karith/g'sten there. all good ships in differant ways.

I thought the G'karith had the same emines as 1st ed since they are called pulse mines or something like that and they still function as 1st ed emines. Couldnt a Narn player bring one of those in for fighter clearance and still keep the big beefy E-mines to use against ships?
