Oktorion?

Rurik

Mongoose
At what point does Oktorion become a geographical/political division in Ralios? It seems to not be detailed in the MRQ second age material - in fact much of what the RQ3 and HW Glorantha books show as Oktorion is part of Lankst in MRQ's G:tSA.

Does Oktorion come into itself later than 908 or is it another inconsistency between MRQ Glorantha and HQ Glorantha?

Thanks.

<pedantic-mode>It is Otkorion.</pedantic-mode>

I am quoting from my memory, since the real Lankst/Otkorion expert is Nikk Effingham (http://www.crashbox.com/nikk/rqpage.htm), but third age Otkorion is just a vast portion of Lankst (Valantia and its surroundings) absorbed into the Malkioni city-state of Fiesive by an ambitious ruler who wishes to incorporate as many Orlanthi myths as possible into his Church. Regard it as a work in progress, an experiment in joining a large Malkioni state with a large confederation of Orlanthi tribes that might go far beyond the achievements of the Aeolian church.

So in fact there is no real contradiction between G:tSA and the RQ3/HQ materials. Otkorion is not yet a political entity in the Second Age, and it is still developing its identity in the Third Age.

All this IMHO. Check with Nikk and Osentalka for a deeper insight. And post this on WorldOfGlorantha too.

My bad.

Nikk's stuff about Fiesive seems to contradict G:tSA (or perhaps it is the other way around). Nikk's Fiesive is a mountain city and Robin's is a stop along the Upper Tanier river. I can't find anything on the city in the HW Glorantha book. RQ3 puts it right where G:tSA does but gives little in the way of details.

Nikk's been writing for a long time, but all his stuff is unofficial, as far as I know.

As a general rule, unofficial material that contradicts official material is normally wrong. Sometimes it is better but it is wrong, until the official material is changed to include the unofficial material.

So, what I'd do is to take the bits from G:TSA and Nikk's material and combine them to get a setting that has the best of both and is unique to your personal Glorantha.

Fiesive and Valantia are two cities of Ralios, like all the others.

There are no political entities mentioned in the MRQ stuff until now, and this is good so.

Ralios is divided between the God Learners and the EWF sympathisants.

No other political entity remains.

And if you would ask the people of a specific region or city, you would get a lot of different answers.
If you would ask people in Azilos for instance They would tell you: That they are part of the great nations of Azilos heir to the complete leftside countrys of the lake, OR that they are honourable inhabitants of the Middle Sea Empire city of Azilos, OR that they are a free city under the rulership of the Godlearners, OR that they live in Azilos the last remaining county of Arkats Autarchy, etc.

Otkorion will be formed when Fiesive and Valantia become one County... and that happens shortly before 1600 S.T.
