Not impressed with the sorcery tidbit

I agree. Yes, you can find a beat up old grimoire just like you find the runes. But...aside from having to learn each spell separately you will have to be literate in the language the grimoire is written in. No, it is far to early to assume something like 'this is RQ3 all over again' and give up on it. Too many possibilities here.

I'm not assuming that, nor am I giving up. I'm just saying that RQ-3 sorcery was not well done, and there seem to be shades of the same mistakes in the new rules.

If there's still something like twenty spells and no mechanism for crating new ones, that's not good. Even more, if spells are all individual (hard) skills...

I kind of doubt that anyone is likely to just wander across a spontaneously generated copy of De Vermis Mysteriis out in the Uncharted Wastes... :)
Well, I did once find a copy of Unaussprechlichen Kulten at the Plateau of Statues...

See, now that's more how I think of Sorcery. I never played RQ, but the way Sorcery is listed it would seem to me that it's not always safe to experiment with cosmic forces. I mean, go into a high school lab and mix some chemicals and see what happened. Are there spell mishaps?
