News Update

I wonder if the zombie force will get the the super singing zombies, whos name i have forgotten, from Judgement Day?

It'd been bugging me for ages what they were called and it popped into my head last night, they were called Charnaks. Some people didnt mind the singing, i hated it, i just didnt get the humor at all. Which is a shame, because the art work for them looked really creepy, which i liked.

Agreed on all counts. It wasnt "wacky" or funny, just jarring in the context of a big fight to save the fate of humanity I think.

The Wargames Factory zombies are poor quality. I have only painted one of mine so far...

Mantic are much better figures but are quite obviously fantasy. I painted mine as hospital patients to explain their outfits...

... but that doesnt make them look like MC1 zombies really.

I have tried matching the components from the GoMC1 gangers to the Mantic parts, but the gangers are a bit too large. I havent given up yet, but it is a little harder than I had hoped (more awkward than combining GW zeds and GW Guard for example).

I hope that Mongoose go with Mantic zeds. Despite the fantasy garb they are generic enough to get away with it. The other plastic zed options are poor.

Wow, your Wargames Factory mini looks really good, a lot better than the ones i have, mine seemed to lose a lot of details, but im happy enough for them being in a big swarm anyway.

The good thing about the Mantic zombies is they can be used with the ghouls, so you can mix and match, but are still very fantasy for me. I'm not sure of Mantics metal upgrade kit qualities, i only have the plastic kits, but if it was a fantasy range, i'd still like to see sci-fi/punk upgrade kit.

Thanks. A lot of that paint job was trompe l'oeil, some of those folds are not sculpted on. He has Mantic hands too.

The detail on the WF stuff is indistinct, so although they are cheap I find them troublesome and time consuming to paint to a decent standard.

There are ghoul components in the group above actually. I forgot to mention that those figures are a mix of both the ghoul and zombie kits.

Definitely. I was disappointed when when they were released that there were not more trousers, of you know what I mean. Hospital patients was the best idea that could come up with to make them suitable for modern (or futuristic) gaming.

A set of MC1 styled components would be fantastic, but I am not holding my breath. If Mongoose released something like that I would pick up several however.

I am looking forward to seeing how the zombie "gang" functions in JDMG. I hope that the list consists of more than just "zombies" and "zombie master". Off hand I cant think of anything else that fits with the stories that could be included apart from super zombies like the Charnaks (without the cabaret abilities I hope).

Mantic seem to be planning a sci-fi game coming ot soon, according to their website. So fingers crossed, there'll be a human guardsman type that will be suitable to do leg swaps with to convert more modern looking zombies.
