New Troligan Stats

Coughs ... Ahem.... This model should sell great.... Being so Super-Duper Stats...coughs again...mutters..

it seems to have got more firepower than its 2e counterpart. the idea is its high survivability with lowish firepower.

I would most certainly not call 4 dice of SAP, Beam, Double Damage, Precise at Range 30 lowish firepower!

The high-survivability part, you do have right.

read my full post - it has more firepower than its 2e counterpart. its supposed to have lower firepower than current.

I don't know what its 2e counterpart is .... hasn't been released yet.

Given the beam and stealth mechanic changes, this ship could change in 2e as will (and I'm guessing here that, if it wasn't going to before, it will now!). So I'm not going to evaluate it in terms of 2e .... it may not even make sense in terms of 2e.

You missed what Katadder said, this Troligan is tougher and has better firepower than what the current 2nd ed version has.
The one we're playtesting won't need toning down, this 1st ed one does already! :P

Not sure he missed it, more I think doesn't want to get into the mass of changes that we non-playtesters have no concept of. Too many variables to make intelligent comments on. Not sure on that...just an idea.

We try to have faith in the designer and the play testers, but that faith has been shaken in the past (and apparently in the really recent past with this stat set) so please take our comments with a fair grain of salt.

I sincerely hope not! Minbari already have a marginally-ok hull 6 ship at war (even if it is undergunned).
What they need is a toned down version of this (guns-wise) at battle. 1 less AD on beam, -5inches range on it, drop some AD on the minibeams, and I think it's about there.

These new stats were not given to the playtesters to preview before they were released. The question remains, why not? I have every faith that had the playtesters seen these stats prior to release, they would all have sent back the response, "what have you been smoking?"

The designer is quite obviously just trying to sell the new minis. Even a blind monkey could see that this ship is blatantly overpowered. It makes the Tinashi and Veshatan totally obsolete, and taking 2 of these bad boys will always be better than any of the Minbari War choices.

I'm just glad it's not "official", so hopefully most people will simply disallow it.

Holy monkey fesces!

Just read S&P and that is truly horrific. Its actually BETTER armed than the Tinahsi (the Neutron lasers have an extra 5" range), the same firepower with its fusion beams, sure theyre not twin linked but it can CAF easily most turns anyway.

It's about 1/3 again as tough as the Tinashi and hull 6 to boot with the same stealth rating!

Hell its nearly as tough as Neshatan!

I'm sorry but this ship is just plain wrong, as a battle level ship its MILES better than anything else in the Minbari fleet list (hell, its miles better than ANY battle level ship) and probably just a BIT too weak to work as a War ship. If you want to go for the armoured thing and make it that tough, well, fine, but it needs its firepower SERIOUSLY cut down (or maybe even drop it to stealth 3+ (maybe its older technology so more reliant on armour than stealth)

Id say though for its current hull stats that 3AD Neutron lasers with 25" range and 4AD of fusion beams in each arc would just about do it.

If Triggy's numerical guidance is any good (see the Best and Worst Battle-level thread), given the current stealth, damage, and hull scores, 2 AD and a small Fusion Cannon upgrade would be closer to balance. 3 AD is still a bit high (it'd be right there almost tied with the Tertius, itself a VERY dubious/cheesy ship).

Well if its not neutered before the next tourney I won't be attending Mongoose towers

or, Attend, use it, blow the hell out of everyone else, and say "see, I told you it was overpowered!" before walking away with a smug grin, and the trophy!

I was just thinking that.

Since there were two players with cheese fleets at the Wargames Workshop tourney on Saturday (4 prefects with scouts), it obviuosly isn't terribly bad form. More likely my conscience not allow me to do it.

what poll questions to ask?

if its range were 25" and less AD maybe 2?
AD for minibeams as the veshetan...would that ballance the hull 6?

or more contraversy keep the same AD MB and add TL and then loose the neutron beams...a real minbo brawler.....
