New Troligan Stats

This ship is just broken. Hull 6, Stealth 4, 4 Neutron Laser dice, appx 55 hull and crew, Battle level?

The good Ganja has been brought in from the Netherlands, it seems. Because someone was stoned when they wrote this one.

Nemo? Try Jaws.

One would hope...

On base sizes...around here we play two to three times a week, and the we see base size make a difference in concentrating fire literally every game. Maybe your play style is just significantly different, but we bunch up fairly often, and are somewhat strict about making the angle on those boresighted ships. We tend to play the very edges of our arc a lot even without boresights, so maybe that is another reason we see it so much more often than some folks report. Could also be that we play the two sizes against each other and actually look for when it would matter.

On fighters being on bases, is there a restriction on a friendly fighter being on a base? Didn't think there was, just that the first four ended up escorting and any after that did not.

(Did any else notice that the battle report had the ships on each others bases? Come on folks...if your gonna tell us it doesn't matter at least follow the rule and prove it.)

It's a Tinashi on Steroids! Its got exactly the same weapons, just better hull, Damage/Crew scores. It also has a better turning circle, as its slightly slower. I've yet to play with on, but I can now see the Tinashi becoming the new 'Trolligan' (if you know what I mean).

I'm not trying to knock whoever designed it, I know its difficult to make something thats going to meet the requirements at that PL.

(I wonder if this is an April Fool gag...will we see the real Trolligan after 12?)

This has just nerfed the Tinashi (one of the best battleships in the game), whats even worse its also nerfed the Sharlin, seriously who would take 1 Sharlin when you could take 2 of these..... (Same applies the the Neshetan).

The most powerfull race has just been given a war level ship at battle..... Well I suppose this is why the Minbari are the most powerfull of the non- ancient races......

I've never understood the thinking that says April Fool's only lasts until mid-day. Where does it stem from? :?

It doesn't matter that this is a short term gain, it's just become the most broken ship in the game overnight!!! War PL toughness with better than average Battle PL firepower (and a fighter).

Thanks guys, I got the troligans in the Minbari reinforcements pack and have of course never used them as they are useless.

I presume of course that the new stats are in fact better not worse???

K

well in 2nd ed it is toughened up it is supposed to be an "armoured cruiser" after all
I imagine the S&P article will be almost identical
But in 2nd ed. Hull 6 isn't quite as valuable due to the way beams work. Directly translating such a ship will simply result in a (slightly) overpowered vessel. Add on that the Damage and guns have been raised as well...

There is a thread a little below on S+P 43 - it gives a link to the document wen are talking about..............well it works from my work computer anyway!

Okay - this doesn't sit with the Tinashi. Yes, the Tinashi has better speed and turns, it also has twin-linked MBs, but the new Troligan outranges it (it also seems to break the trend of lame ranges for Minbari beams - in comparison to Centauri at the same PL).
It's too good. Reduce the range back to 25, drop 2AD off each of the minibeams (and maybe put the neutron laser down to 3AD), and it'd be probably more appropriately balanced against the Tinashi.

which is why for years now I have called for minbari ships to have less damage and not more....

Triggy, could you run your numerical engine (from the best-worst-ship at each level series) on this thing? I'm betting it's easily over 10.5.
