New to RQII

Hi there!
I've been playing RQII for a few months now and, I guess, would count as a convert. Specifically, the group I've joined is playing Deus Vult which I now own (plus the core rulebook). I might have a go at GMing this too.

Is there any intent to publish a source book on the Templars?
Or maybe a regional supplement of the Holy Lands that could include extra material on the Templars?

(If yes, what's the timescale please?)

Thanks v much

A Deus Vult supplement on the Holy Land would be fantastic. In fact, there are lots of location books that would be good.

I haven't seen any plans to release more Deus Vult stuff, though :(

I'd love to see something like this as well...

By the way, it would be interesting to use RQ Empires for managing the Crusader Kingdom and other principalities, and any holdings important for play? Especially if the players get involved in the politics and management side?

I'm not familar with RQ Empires myself.

The Deus Vult campaign I'm running has the PCs complete more investigative adventures. I guess 'management' issues might arrise once they are higher ranks.

For now, though, I'd just love to have more information on the world. Europe in 1189 is certainly not your average fantasy setting (one of the things which appeals to me), and I'd like to know more about the alternative history within the game. What has happened to the Order in the East? What's Egypt like at this time? What sort of nasties lie in wait in the mysterious unexplored lands?

I think there's a whole raft of stuff that hasn't been tapped into yet.

I would guess that the Templars are quite incidental in a Deus Vult campaign, so a writeup for Deus Vult would be biased in favour of the Order and against the Templars.

Merrie England: Age of Chivalry will be coming out later this year. Although written for BRP, the first volume was written for Mongoose RQ1 and is quite compatible with Deus Vult. That has a good deal of background information on 12th Century England and Europe and can easily be used with Deus Vult.

As for the Templars, I am planning a Holy Land supplement to Merrie England that should cover all the Knightly Religious Orders, (Templars, Hospitallers, Conquistadors and the other main ones, especially the Knights of Lazarus - how can you not like Leper Knights?) but this will take some time. I wouldn't expect it to appear until 2013, or possibly later (assuming that Alephtar Games are interested and publish it).

Heh heh heh. They would be very effective. Any wounds they recieve in combat they would shrug off. "You cut off my hand! That's OK, it was going to fall off anyway."
