New Campaign need info about the Imperium

Hey,

So last night some friends of mine came over to play and since initially our group was small we decided to make Traveller characters. I haven't played Traveller since I was a teenager back in the little black book era. I plan on GMing this game but I need some info about the Imperium. Are there any resources that I can access about the default Traveller setting. I kind of need a Imperium for dummies version if you don't mind.

For together just 4 USD you could get the PDFs of the two Library Data
supplements for Classic Traveller, and with them you would have all
the important information about the Third Imperium:

This is certainly not the only way to get the information, but I think it
would probably be the easiest one.

The excellent Imperium maps at www.travellermap.com provide sectors, subsector and system names and details (even PDFs, etc...). Not sure the setting time - they are 'slightly' different than MgT.

Actually one of the questions people where asking me is what world their character had came from. Since I didn't know what world exist in the Imperium I couldn't really answer them.

The posts up-thread answer your question. I'm just going to chime in to second the suggestion for Mongoose's Spinward Marches book if your using the Mongoose Traveller rules. The book has an excellent intro to the Traveller Universe generally, and the Spinward Marches specifically.

Well I'm currently looking at Traveller wiki which seems to serve some of the purpose you've described but I don't know how much detail it gets into since you might want a bit more than what it dabble in.

OK, well it looks like the Spinward Marches is the book I want to get next. I guess when I get the spending money.
