Naming ships, colour schemes

Mongoose
Hey, I just got myself my first part of my centauri fleet which has 1 octuration, 2 primus's, 4 vorchans, 1 kutite gunship, 1 covern scout ship, about 6 squads of sentri's, 5 squads of ratarians heavy fighters and i am awaiting 1 sulust escort ship, 1 dargon attack cruiser, 4 squads more of sentri's and finally a 2 haven partol boats.

Form my point this seems a good start apart form the amount of different ships, I want to test all classes available to us. I was planning to paint my centauri the normal purple and gold you see but i am gonna to try purple and red idea, I am gonna post some pictures tonight on the idea.

Another of my problems are giving my ships names i am not to familar with any of there warship names and Done a search for any threads but with no success anyways if anyone could give me suggestions or ideas on names that would be awesome.

Cheers.

Hello and welcome to the Glorious Republic :D

Nice selection of ships - as to colours - what ever suits your fancy - it can always be a "House" fleet -re names - Latin works well or just British warship names often work..............

yeah, roman style names are good, in latin of course! as for colours, how do you want to color them? Da Boss's are in the most hideous orange I have ever seen colourwise, but it actually works, god help me but it does!

Da Boss said:
Its not Orange - is RED - it says so on the pot!!! Blood red!!

are you sure, i could have sworn they were tangarine orange?! My eyes must have been playing up... they looked good anyway... but orange?!. . .

They were clearly orange, old chap. Very, very orange.

Traditional Centauri colours are purple and gold. Most of my fleet is done this way, but I have some contrasting burgundy and grey ships that look pretty nice. Thing to remember with the Centauri is they're always ostentatious, highly decorated and generally as fancy as they possibly can be. Use bold colours, blues, reds, purples especially, and as much precious metal as possible - gold, silver and bronze all look great as decoration on Centauri ships.

Thanks guys for the feedback, they have most helpful i really cant wait to get painting to night! I was wondering could you post a picture of your orange/red ships Da Boss  and if anyone else wants to show of your colour schemes then your welcome :P . I will be showing off my ok painting skills later to.

On the names idea it seems a fine plan for latin/roman names work well. Ill proberly end up writing a hugh ass list tonight for names :) .

Cheers

Obviously that picture was taken at the start of your game LDTD, If I remember correctly from the day there weren't many Centauri or Drakh ships left on the table by the time the victorious EA, Allies and Mercs had finished with you and your centauri collegues!

Blood Red is the only red I use and it is VERY RED

Unless you put it on over a white primer. Then it becomes a rather hideous orange...

Go ahead and paint your ships however you feel and name them after whatever you want.
I have an ISA Fleet named for Chinese mythology. Dragon, Phoenix, Monkey King...
And they're painted in a Black and Red pattern that is apparently highly unusual for ISA.

So, anyway, just go with what works for YOU.

DaBoss, got pics?

Joking aside LDTD, I had to admit I liked the paint job on your Octurion.... and then their was Jim Stone's Liati's which I fought 3 times ove rthe wkend......... they were simply outstanding!
