Multi-table linked game

Anyone either thought of doing linked table games?
Done some in 40K and was wondering about trying something similar in SST
Idea would go something like this.
MI going in to clear a sector out so you have a couple of straight forward bug hunts, but a separate table would have Plasmas wiring on first tables & / or firing on AA
Thereby effecting the number of MI landing etc
Mission would be 2 fold with units of MI storming the bugs, whilst other units on different table would be trying to use stealth to get to take out the Plasma
Each turn plasma live is a turn of fire either on MI or the fliers
Thoughts welcome

I've toyed w/ the idea of doing two tables, one subterranean and one topside.

Linked games could be fun though. Maybe one guy starts doing well and suddenly gets diverted to help in another sector (table)

I've done this with other games and it is fun but difficult to coordinate turns.

You idea sounds very workable. My previously posted bug canyon game had the possibility for linked tables. What I did instead was have the other "board" abstracted. The Plasma Bugs could fire on the table to protect themselves but then they were not firing at their victory condition which was a pair of Heavenly Mercy Dropships available to be shot down in each air phase. I could have linked those by having a second board with MI trying to defend an extraction of wounded which would have been in vain had the transports been destroyed coming to or from the location.

Well, SST... more than most tabletop games... is really dependent on table size. Try an all Warrior bug army with the long table edges and then try an encounter mission... I guarantee the warrior bugs will do worse in the encounter mission.

Remember that every 12" farther the bugs are from their enemy is another turn it will take to reach them whereas the MI and skinnies can keep retreating to the corners. I think the only way to do a fair large game (if a footslogging army is present vs. a jumping army) is to give one side more points or maybe surround the force that can jump (jumping force begins at table center and the rest come in from any table edge), otherwise it's just too unbalanced.
