1. On page 7 the rules talk about 6's on the dice result in hits that ignore the shields. I assume this is natural 6's, and not results of 6 or more that could be achieved by Accurate +X, correct?

2. Critical Score 2 on the Weapons table mentions that "One random weapon system cannot fire". What does this mean? Weapon Systems, as discussed on page 8, seems to be entire types of weapons, like Phaser 1's or Disruptors. Does this mean that if you randomly determine that the weapon system affected is a Phaser 1, that all Phaser 1's cannot fire? Or does it mean that some specific Phaser 1 can't fire? And for how long can it/they not fire?

3. How do you randomly determine which weapon system cannot fire under Critical Score 2 on the Weapons table? For example, a Klingon D7 has 5 different weapons: 1 Phaser 1, 2 Phaser 2's, a "Disruptors", and a "Drones". But it has 4 Weapons Systems. So to randomly determine which weapon system is affected, is it; (a) 20% chance that one of the 5 different weapons is knocked out (meaning that only one of the Phaser 2's could be knocked out), or (b) a 25% chance that an entire Weapon System is knocked out (meaning that both Phaser 2's could be knocked out at once)?

1: Yes, only on a natrual "6"

2: Each line-item is a Weapon System. You could lose a bank of phasers, not ALL phasers, on that critical hit.

3: The rulebook doesn't say how to pick the random Weapons System. At least, not that I recall reading.

3. A weapon system is a line on the chart. For the D7 only one phaser 2 will be taken out. To determine which weapon is lost roll a d6 (a dice, not the ship). For bigger Gorn ships roll a d20.

...roll a d6 (a dice, not the ship)...
OK. You got me on that. Now I have to clean the soda off my monitor.

That is the way we do it though.
We assign a number to each line on the trait block and roll the appropriate die. D6 for most ships (and if you roll a number greater than the number of traits, re-roll.), d12 or d20 for the larger ones.

For odd numbers such as "7", take a deck of cards and pull out all four Ace thru 7 or however many you need, shuffle and cut.

If you are an RPGer with "weird dice" you can also roll a d8 and ignore the "8." I keep a set of dice at work for when I need to randomize entries in a contest I manage. I start at d100 and work my way down. :)

So, no d1000's then?

Excuse me

Weird Dice, RPGers. Hurumph

D4, D6, D8, D10, D12, D20.

Thats a heck of a Klingon Fleet

Or you could get an app for your smart phone to randomize any number you need. I don't have one, but I'm sure they're out there.

Rick, I do have a set of purple dice that go up do d10000. They just are not at work.

Captain Jonah, obviously I am an RPGer with my weird dice. The SFU crowd at Origins won't let me bring my 6" d6 -- I think I disturb them with talk of "bowling for starships."

Must remember to ask SVC if he can create a D20 :)

6" D6! :o That's awesome... I've been trying to find a set of huge D10s for our demoing, but the biggest I've been able to locate is only 1.5"

Haven't used those... but I did at one point in my younger days have a similar set for the, ehem... "creative" player in our group.

He would quite often roll the dice and follow them across the table with his hand. Then would rapidly scoop them up (before anyone else saw the result) nad loudly proclai m, "Yeah! I got a nineteen!"

It's amazing how much more poorly he rolled with the larger dice.
Almost average, one might say.

Oversized D6s do not an RPGer make, any board game gives you D6's. People in pubs play with D6's, everyone gambles with D6's. To be a proud RPGer you need all the really weird dice. RPGers hold your D4, D8. D12, D20, D100s with pride :P

D20
Damage 150 ish
Shields 42 ish Klingon Shield Rule for F arc

Those aren't weird dice. These are weird dice. This is a D7. :D

There needs to be a Romulan version with a cloaking device. Look at this. (I've got one of those. I call it the D20 of Rolling Whatever I Like.)

K20

Replace the FH Disruptors with a pair of plasma Ss.

Replace each group of F/P and F/S Disruptors with a Plasma R

Replace the aft Disruptors with a cluster of Plasma Fs or a Plasma S or two

Replace the Drones with 2 D-racks each for FH, SH, PH, AH. Also functions as 8 AD of ADD

Add cloak.

Wander off to hunt some Kzinti. Remember to laugh loudly as you reload any of those 8 ADDs that ran out of ammo the turn before.

Hummmm. Is it undergunned. Two plasma Rs, 4 plasma Ss and 8 D-racks. Seems a bit undergunned to me
