More original universes

Mongoose
I was thinking about this the other day, and the only original Mongoose games/RPGs I can think of off the top of my head are:

Mighty Armies
BF Evo
Armageddon:2089

Everything else is pretty much a licence or a D20 add on.

LBH

I think a generic thing like runequest would be nice.

But some original stuff would be nice, maybe in signs and portents.

I think that Original is better in the long run. Yes it is harder because it does not come with a ready made fan base, but it does allow for more creative expression if they want to do so.

Agreed. You don't have to follow any canon etc. to make the setting book so you can focus on making a setting that is especially made for a game setting. A setting that has integrated the rules set as part of the world so fluff and mechanics go hand in hand flawlessly.

There is an additional benefit of not having to pay the license fee :)

So, I vote for an original setting for an RPG. I don't mean that it has to be totally insane setting just something that is not licensed...

Well it's nice if they follow their own canon, I mean I'd be miffed if a new A:2089 supplement came out and it said Shotgun Mike was a logistics officer in the US General Defense Corporation

 Yes, that would be nice :) What I was trying to say is that Mongoose doesn't have to follow canon of the licensed material...

True, I was just having a laugh

But your point was still a good one. When a company does do their own universe they need to remain true and consistant within that universe.

:D I wouldnt mind seeing a Traveller setting that didnt use the traveller mapping system of hex grids, its always been a peev of mine, I never use it and always come up with another measuring system in Traveller. To bad TTA is done by morrigan press, that would have been nice to do as well. (oh for those who dont know TTA is Terran Trade Authority).

And, as such, will probably never see another supplement - printed or otherwise. Which is a damn shame as I grew up with 2 of the TTA hardbacks on my shelves. Damn things were excellent as gaming resources. Still love that Chris Foss artwork!
