MonQuest

I believe the SRD refers to it as D100 system.

Since Chaosium claims that title as well for their CoC/Stormbringer line, and is reputedly not that happy about OGL RuneQuest to being with, next time the Mongoose people and the Chaosium people are at the some convention it would be interesting to be a fly on the wall....

I sort of considered "D100 system" to be a pretty lame name. Same with d20. Neither system uses one die exclusively the way the "d6" system does.

I guess calling it the "Perrin, Tuney & Friends" system or the "Chaosium" system would probably be more accruate.

"Chaosium" system sounds pretty good. I'd go with that if I were them.

MRQ or RQ4 is fine for me. But does pose an interesting question of what to call the variant games that are going to inevitably result from Mongoose's Open Content declaration. Including "Quest" in every title would be annoying -- especially since there are other games out there with no relationship to RQ that use that naming convention.

I suppose I could call my variant RQ-U. All you other guys will have to pick your own letter. :P

RuneQuest Zeta! :)

Even with magic, Glorantha's bronze-age-equivalent tech ology would probably not allow for massive piloted golems.

You could do RuneQuest Z if the entire party consists of people who have reached truly massive levels of power after completing multiple Hero Quests. Maybe the presence of such awesomely powerful people is why Pavis became the Big Rubble in the transition between the Second and Third Age. ;)

As always, your mileage may vary.

How about just calling it
'RuneQuest'

MRQ sounds 'pants' and the same goes with versioning numbers is definately in the Software ball court.

RuinedQuest
Wasn't that Avalon Hills addition to the line with the Classics:
City of Eleriad (Pavis done badly)
The Daughters of Darkness (101 dalamtion and Moby Dick)

If it should go that way (and hopefully it will not):
RuinedQuest the Next Conflaguration.

Pants are a good thing. I love my pants. You seem to be using pants as a negative term, and pants are good (except evil golf pants). MRQ is also pretty good, evne if there are flaws. If I say you are pretty pants, I mean you are pretty good. MRQ introduces some new things to the RQverse and should not be dissed, nor should pants. You might say my pants or MRQ might need altering to get a better fit, but overall the cut is pretty good. Does my arse look big in this? MRQ is a decent way to differentiate it from RQ, RQii, RQiii, RQiv & RQSlayers. MRQ gets all the major points about it across. Why are we quibbling.

I tend to stick with the idea of burning every copy of City of Elderad & Daughters of Darkness you can find. Sure I've kept one of each myself for the "complete" collection, but I'm always half a breath away from burning them. Whenever I find one in a bargain bin for $1, I buy it and burn it. I've got rid of three extra abominations that way. One glorious day I will buy a house wtih a yard and build a pyre of them and watch it all burn.

Ah we have a 'transatlantic' language difference here:

'Pants' as refered to by our American Chums are usually refered to as trousers here in dear old blighty.
Where as 'Pants' in the uk refers to underwear.

When refered to as an insult, the 'pants' in reference will be those of the underwear variety... possibly those which have layed undiscovered in the darkest recesses of a cupboard or out of reach under a bed, having not been washed in the past decade or so since they where worn. :)

(Not refering to MRQ as pants... just the name...)
