Mongoose Joins Forces with Rebellion for Evolution Games

Yeah, and they're making a third film in the series.....

I don't mind spin-offs being sequels, and I do enjoy the second film every now and then....

Starship Troopers: Marauder (working title apparently)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0844760/

Johnny Rico is now a general, and called back into action to defeat the bugs.

Expected to begin shooting in March 2007 in South Africa.

I think SST grossed about $20 million in profit over a $100 million production budget. Don't know if that includes DVD sales. "Highly successful" might be overstating it a bit.

Anyhoot, my congratulations to Mongoose on landing this deal and for the success of BF:EVO so far! I was highly sceptical this game would take off after that whole debacle with the awful pictures, but I'm glad I was wrong :D

The film was made for an impressive $95 million but was a disappointment at the box office, earning a tad under $120 million worldwide.

Production budget on the first Starship Troopers film was $95 million with an advertising budget of $25 million and worldwide it grossed just under $120 million. What am I missing? It was a lemon wasn't it?

Let's do Helstrom a little research. ;)

$54,700,065 (USA) (22 February 1998) (sub-total)
£6,315,712 (UK) (8 February 1998) (sub-total)
$65,000,000 (Non-USA) (10 May 1998)
AUD 5,865,797 (Australia) ( 1998) (sub-total)
DEM 15,096,442 (Germany) (22 February 1998) (sub-total)
€1,460,419 (Netherlands) (sub-total)

Rentals: $24,393,721 (USA)

Estimated Budget: $95,000,000

So if we add USA and Non-USA sub-totals, we'd have:
$119,700,065 (give or take)

Keep in mind this is all from 1998.... there's no more stats from that point on available.

I think Secesh you're making the common mistake that if a film doesnt do well in the US its a total flop (Even if you are a bigger market for it).
I seem to recall it doing really well in Europe, partially due to the director, and partially because the more ironic take on it goes down a lil better our end.
It wasn't a massive success to be sure, but it did alright :D

a film is a sucsess if it makes profit, you could make the an amzing gross film but if it makes no profit it is not a sucsess, SST droped the idea of power suits and made a profit. so def a sucsess in that way

Oh man, I've been trying for years to make that mind trick work at uni! I finally pull it off and it's over something trivial... Oh well

As we say in the Netherlands, any profit is good profit!

*khem*..ok, i don't really get that.
i understand that rebbelion now may produce compy games for both worlds, and that MG may use their ip for it's games...but how on earth is this supposed to be a "big thing" for BF and SST-E? i mean the games are already pretty much released(ok, SST seems to be pused to august, of all things),so-what's the deal with that all?

Um.... maybe.... 3 page comic style adverts in 2000AD or something... But Im not sure all that many people read it these days (Theres the very amusing anecdote that Renegade just wanted to buy the rights to Judge Dread, but realised they could buy 2000AD for around the price they were expecting :D )...
Um...maybe like someone said they could use the printing equipment they have and get SST out early? Thats all I can come up with though...

It will be interesting to see what comes of this. I am anxious to see what's coming up from this. There are some promising franchises there.
