Minor Niggles that Should be Changed in V2

It's funny how I can't think of a single item in this thread that isn't directly addressed in 2nd ed.!

Sounds good to me!

Just one thing I found about the shadows: Maybe there could be a Shadow Ship Variant for War level? Could be called "juvenile", "awakened" or something like this. This would a) make the current Shadow fleet box a little more useful and b) enable the players to use make more use of the cool models, especially in campaigns (there were so many of those ships in the series; I´d love to see more of them on the gaming table again - and I don´t even have a shaodw fleet ).

Apart from that, if all the issues above are being taken care of, I can´t wait to see V2 released! :D

okay...niggle time...just doing a couple drazi things now...come back and do more as I think of them...

The scout - why does this have a better laser than the sunhawk and no ability to affect fighters at all? Wouldn't this ship often be alone without fighter escort?

The fireraptor - it looks like it has missles...give it missles...or maybe the new sculpt fixed that

Re-think the sunhawk a bit, right now it's rarely worth taking, its a great looking model and would be nice to use more often. Maybe even a bad dodge, or hull 5 (high hull seems the drazi defense 'system')

Really look at boresight...the idea that if you lose initiative a ship is guaranteed to not be able to shoot anything just really ruins the experience a lot of the time, especially in smaller games where there are not a lot of ships, or late in a game for the same reason. Or worse a game where you literally cannot wolfpack your chosen prey because he has dropped something in a corner or an asteriod field and you have to send one or more ships to attack it because of how boresight works witht he init system. It's gotten worse since the six ships persquadron limit has been added as well.

Just before you send it off to print, make sure its edited.

Then, when you're sure its edited, hand a copy to someone else and make sure its edited.

Then, when he's sure its edited, have him hand a copy to someone else and make sure its edited.

When he's sure its edited, give it back to Matt, and show him what needs to be done.

Look over Matt's shoulder while he's making the needed changes.

Send this new file to someone out here in the forums you trust (maybe someone in america...), so he can highlight the things that still need editing.

Send this copy back to mongoose, and have three different people than before go through it and see if anything's been missed. Give the copy to Matt and have him go through and make the changes.

Look over Matt's shoulder again while he's making the changes.

And finially, make sure the correct copy gets sent to the printers.

and proofread again. . . . .

Owww, I wanted to say that

Is it too late to say "D10"? :?

...why do you say this? When you know I will subject you to Zodisms?

...answer me or all of your D10s will end up like this one...

Seriously though I don't think a change to D10 will happen as (I think) most wargamers are in love with their D6s - although I can see some of the advantages in allowing some more variability...

And then THE MOST important step:

Be sure the printer sends back the final proof to Mongoose Publishing for approval BEFORE printing the run. 8)

It's a hard job being a publisher. I admire Matt & Co. for doing this! :D

-Give the Troligan it's gravitic shifters back and hull 6

-Make the Hyperion Patrol cruiser from the Earth Minbari War book a standard fleet option for early EA fleets. It seems a good representative of a pre-heavy laser Dilgar era hyperion

-Make the Vorhcan worthwhile.

-Give us the Shargoti as a Armageddon level Sharlin variant.

-Give the Sharlin a command bonus, even if only a +1. If I remember right, Delenn had Sheridan lead the first major battle of the Shadow war from a Sharlin because of their amazing command abilities.

-Make the Explorer a scout.

-Defang the Prefect and the Tertius.

-Go nuts with introducing some of the AoG variants back into the game, I want my bolter armed warhawks back. Preyhawks forever!!

- Get rid of all the command bonuses on ships. Seems like every fleet and his dog has like a +8 initiative bonus these days.

I just feel sorry for everyone (myself included) that a final version with everything balanced won't be out for many months. The ideas are all there but we really want to get this one right!!!

Right now I keep finding myself at work toying around with weapon configurations and finding good and bad matchups for each ship and rule to test them to their limits and working out the maths there and then for later testing at home :?

I agree that the Sharlin seems to have excellent command facilities, though these facilities might already be accounted for in the rules with the Minbari initiative bonus. For that matter, all major Minbari capital ships might have similar holographic systems. It is hard to say as we see very few (and even fewer inside shots) non-Sharlins in the show.

You know, I dont know where the word "niggles" comes from, but if I said that out loud where I live I would at minimum get a very very dirty look, and probably have my car vandalized.

Continuining my list from before:

22. Introduce the Redundancy trait for high priority ships. I favor the simplest version of the Redundancy trait that was suggested. Namely you get to ignore one critical hit per point of redundancy a ship has(you don't even roll to see what the critical was). You can restore lost redudancy points with a successful damage control check. The exact level of redundancy needs playtesting though.

23. Convert some of the Earth/Minbari War ships so that they can be played as part of the Early Years EA fleet. Right now they're not balanced compared to the rest of the ships in the game so it seems worth balancing them.

24. Some Dilgar variants.

25. Some Drakh variants as well as an Armageddon level Drakh ship.

26. Abbai should have both interceptors and GEG. Of course this means they'll probably have to be completely restated but it feels in flavor for them seeing how they're described as having shields on their ships.

27. Something needs to be done to make Hull 4 ships more viable. Right now the only Hull 4 ships you'll often see are scouts.

Hmmm, I wonder if I should order a shadow fleet box right away.... I like that, a lot! :D

Don't worry, Abbai will be getting their shields, the only thing limiting them before was the lack of a rule to represent them :)

Off the top of my Head I'd say Stealth needs looking as it stands at the moment it's either all or nothing.

Balance out the PL of the ships.

See about producing referance cards for each fleet.

But most of all remember if it isn't broke don't fix it.
