Miniatures

Mongoose
I remember that at one point mongoose said they were going to do miniatures again on planet mongoose, and that they were Moth balling it, or something.

Has there ever been word since about the subject?

I know that many of you have been waiting for the return of miniatures games from Mongoose. Be patient a little while longer, they are coming! We have some great titles lined up for 2010 and, as always, they are going to be games you want to play.

Thanks. A follow up question: was their any comment made on past games like Bablyon 5, Mighty Armies, and Starship Troopers? They don't seem to be anywhere on the boards. I remember seeing them when I was a lurker on the site.

I can tell you that Mighty Armies is now being done by Rebel Games, including a new book MA Ancients. The others I don't know specific definite info.

Mongoose no longer has the license for Babylon 5, it was not renewed this year due to the high price and diminishing interest. There is very little chance that the license will be renewed in the future, since the Lost Tales failed to re-ignite interest in the franchise, B5 is basically a dead setting, there is no new blood to invest in the products.

The ACTA forum is still active, discussing B5 and looking forward to a new non-B5 setting for 3rd edition. The B5 RPG forum was amalgamated into "Other RPG games" forum.

It's fairly cookie cutter for Starship Troopers from my understanding.

The question is; can we trust mongoose with miniatures again? Don't get me wrong here but i believe the question is justified. I played both Starship Troopers and Battlefield Evolution, i put a lot of money into both system and when the waves began beeing delayed it was always "just wait until next month for an announcement" "just wait a little bit longer" "just wait a few more weeks to know whats going on" "yeah its delayed but there will be a huge announcement soon!" "Yeah sorry we're dropping both games."

After investing that kind of time and money into these games (and patience waiting) it was basicly shafted.

Now i want both Battlefield Evolution and Starship Troopers to be thriving games because both the fluff, models and rules were great in my opinion (I especially miss Starship Troopers, i think it had limitless potential).

But do i dare invest in a Mongoose miniatures games again with the history they have?

All kidding aside, Starship Troopers and B5 ACTA are both very vibrant games with a fairly long run time and depth of product releases with relation to most mini games. The pre-paints didn't pan out, but it was still a good idea in concept.
