I had a intresting day discovering all sorts of hidden rules that I was unaware of but hey ho thats how it goes, My goal is now how to take down a maruader force as I played both reborns & Nick's in the afternoon and got a right kicking!

I'm looking a burrower bug with 3 guard bugs attached to it....
 
Venerable lord army it sound like I should take.

(white guys- venerables, golden cock guys- soldiers with neural beamers)

Maybe a lord, suped up, along with a few units of suped up venerables and some soldiers with heavy weps.
I was considering an arachno-skinnie army, think of it, neural beamer unit, moves, readies, gets an extra brain bug action, shoots. OUCH!
 
so having played a tournament - what are folks feelings on the way assets work for victory points??

eg Shoot a nuke and you are denying the enemy 300 vps even if you hit nothing - you're probaly going to get 150-200 on top of that. In the above example - if both armies wipe each other out then you win by 300vps.

Of course if you get vps for being within an area, or exiting the board then you lose it in that calculation, but lose less than the opponent would gain for half strength units etc.

Should nukes be reduced in cost but the opposition get the vp for the nuke if it is used ??

Should vps be awarded for reliants etc that are taken down ??

In the extreme case of say 1000 pts assets which are successfully fired - it becomes tough for the opposition to register a significant win even if they do wipe you out - is this sensible in terms of balancing wins / losses and game points in a competition ??

Officially the original SST rules and the latest army lists - though since most of us don't remember them exactly or interpret them the same, I am sure there were various variants out there.

The scenarios were not from the rule book so there was no concept of attack / defence based on priority level apart from Rolling Thunder. Probe, Attack and Defend orders did not come into it.
 
Cool. I was mainly wondering about the single reaction and new cover rules; I had completely forgotten about the Shattered rule.
 
Here - Low Roller - did you not manage to NuKe Reborn ?? Should have taken a fair bit out with your rapier teams. Make sure you get to go first in any rematch !!!

I must say that is one of the current issues with the competition tables - not enough scenery, it can often be just a case of who gets to go first will win in an MI / MI shoot out - which is not much fun quite frankly. The whole thing needs a rethink.
 
It's true. He didn't get to nuke me, because on the first turn I killed his nuke, two or three squads of MI and a CHAS.
 
Why don't bring your own terrain?

I assume if Mongoose would make an Announcement ('Anyone bring their terrain please') you could cover all the board.
 
yes - I'm thinking everyone should bring a piece to cover say 1 foot square tops. Could roll randomly to see where it goes in your half of the board.
